Mrs. Don King has been con - Tindall Ritchie last member of family passes 1 A native of ilowick and the last surviving member of his family, Tindall Ritchie of RR 2, Wing - ham, died Wednesday, July 12, at Huronview, Clinton, following a brief ;illness. He was in his 93rd year. Mr. Ritchie was a son of the late James Ritchie and Margaret Henderson. He attended Carrick School and was a drayman for more than fifty years. During this time he worked for Robert Spot - ton at the Wingham Memorial Shop and on . several occasions transported monuments as far away as Newmarket by team. In later years he was employed at Brown's Factory in Wingham. He retired in 1950. On June 15, 1915, he married the former Mary Carr at her home in Grey Township and they came to Wingham to reside. She predeceased him in July of 1966. Mr. Ritchie is survived by one son, Stewart of Wingham, three grandchildren, James and Thomas of Wingham and Mrs. Thomas (Sharon) Cameron of Belgrave. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters and one. brother. Rev. R. H. Armstrong of Si. Andrew's Presbyterian: Church where deceased was a member, conducted funeral service Fri- day, July 14, at 2 p.m. at the R. A. Currie and Son Funeral Home. Interment followed in Brussels Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ken Currie, Donald Cameron, Lloyd Case - more, Alex Baird, Bill Thompson and Ted Holloway. Weekend guests with Mr. and Mrs. Clare Harris were Mr. and Mrs. Les Watkins of Bolton and John Harris of Newmarket. Miss Cindy and Master Jeffrey Mulvey of Belmore are spending a few days this week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sothern. Mr. and MrS. Bob Petznick ant family of Kitchener spent last week at their summer home here. Thursday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wylie were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Walker of King and Mrs. and Mrs. Chester Pennell of Mildmay. Miss Miriam Bride of Don Mills is holidaying with her grandpar- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Doig while her parents and Peter are vacationing in Alberta. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Patterson and sons of Toronto were Sunday visitors with Mrs.. Pearl Patter- son. Mrs. Carl Stewart, Doug and Greg returned home with them and will spend the week in the city. Afternoon unit meets at church FORDWICH — The afternoon Scott of Willowdale; Donna and held its July meeting in the Sun- day School rooms when worship service was taken by Mrs. Park- er Eurig and Mrs. Verna Gal- braith. Scripture from St. Luke was read by Mrs. Galbraith who also offered prayer: Mrs. Eurig gave the meditation on the theme, "The World Needs Com- passion and Humility". The program was in charge of Mrs. 'Stan Bride and Mrs. Wil- liam Wilson. Their theme was Canada, since July 1st is Can- , ada's birthday. They stressed the missionary work done by the mission boat ThomastCrosley V, up and down the west coast of British . Columbia. Mrs. Wilson offered prayer for .country and church. Mrs. Bruce Agla, unit presi- dent, conducted the business. The roll call was "What I would changein the world today". A motion was made to send for the n study book for September. The unit decided ' to take on the project of re -carpeting the plat- forin in the basement. Mrs. Wil- liam Wilson and Mrs. James Warrell were named a committee to look after the -project. The new tables will also be sanded and varnished. The meeting closed with prayer by Mrs: Agla and lunch hostesses were Mrs. George Ashton, Mrs. H. Gibson and Mrs. Norman Harding. 4-H club meets at Wylie home The June meeting of the How - ick 4H Dairy Calf Club was held at the farm of Allan Wylie, Clif- ford. Glen Hayden was elected press reporter, due to the divid- ing of the beef and dairy club members. Two classes of cows were judged before members dis- cussed • their lesson material, "Breeding Systems and Methods" after which they filled ' in the quiz. Lunch was served by Mrs. Wylie. Mrs. L Storey dies is b.sp. Mrs. Louis Storey passed away in the Wingham and District Hos- pital on Sunday, July 16, follow- ing a lengthy illness. She was in her 72nd year. Born and educated in Wing - ham, Mrs. Storey was the former Olive May Groves, a daughter of the late Thomas Groves and Annie McDonald.. She was em- ployed for some time by the Wingham and District Hospital, retiring in 1966. Mrs. Storey was a member of the Wingham United Church. On June 16, 1926, in Wingham, she married Mr. Storey who sur- vives, with two daughters, Mrs. Lois Hunter and Mrs. Maxine Elliott, both of Wingham and two sons, Gary of Wingham and Ir- vine of . Goderich. Also left to mourn her passing are one sister, Mrs. Lloyd (June) Casemore of Wingham; one brother, Mac Groves of Port Huron, Michigan; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Lil- lian and Gertrude and one brother Earl. The late Mrs. Storey rested at the R. A. Currie and Son Funeral Home until Tuesday when fu- neral service was conducted at 2 p.m. by Rev. J. G. Roberts. Inter- ment followed in Wingham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Orville Welsh, Klaas Jorritsma, Murray Hunter, Wayne Hunter, Stuart Hunter •and Larry Hodgins. Floral tributes were carried to the graveside by three grandchil- dren, Janet and Greg Storey and Billie Broome. ' Hold picnic for western guests FORDWICH -- A pleasant sur- prise was enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Don Gibson of Winnipeg while visiting here when their families had a picnic on the occa- sion of their 25th wedding anni versary. The unit decided ' to take on the project of re -carpeting the plat- forin in the basement. Mrs. Wil- liam Wilson and Mrs. James Warrell were named a committee to look after the -project. The new tables will also be sanded and varnished. The meeting closed with prayer by Mrs: Agla and lunch hostesses were Mrs. George Ashton, Mrs. H. Gibson and Mrs. Norman Harding. 4-H club meets at Wylie home The June meeting of the How - ick 4H Dairy Calf Club was held at the farm of Allan Wylie, Clif- ford. Glen Hayden was elected press reporter, due to the divid- ing of the beef and dairy club members. Two classes of cows were judged before members dis- cussed • their lesson material, "Breeding Systems and Methods" after which they filled ' in the quiz. Lunch was served by Mrs. Wylie. Mrs. L Storey dies is b.sp. Mrs. Louis Storey passed away in the Wingham and District Hos- pital on Sunday, July 16, follow- ing a lengthy illness. She was in her 72nd year. Born and educated in Wing - ham, Mrs. Storey was the former Olive May Groves, a daughter of the late Thomas Groves and Annie McDonald.. She was em- ployed for some time by the Wingham and District Hospital, retiring in 1966. Mrs. Storey was a member of the Wingham United Church. On June 16, 1926, in Wingham, she married Mr. Storey who sur- vives, with two daughters, Mrs. Lois Hunter and Mrs. Maxine Elliott, both of Wingham and two sons, Gary of Wingham and Ir- vine of . Goderich. Also left to mourn her passing are one sister, Mrs. Lloyd (June) Casemore of Wingham; one brother, Mac Groves of Port Huron, Michigan; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Lil- lian and Gertrude and one brother Earl. The late Mrs. Storey rested at the R. A. Currie and Son Funeral Home until Tuesday when fu- neral service was conducted at 2 p.m. by Rev. J. G. Roberts. Inter- ment followed in Wingham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Orville Welsh, Klaas Jorritsma, Murray Hunter, Wayne Hunter, Stuart Hunter •and Larry Hodgins. Floral tributes were carried to the graveside by three grandchil- dren, Janet and Greg Storey and Billie Broome.
