A series of prenatal classes will
begin Wednesday, April 19, "1972
at the following places, sponsored
by the Huron County Health Unit:

The aim of these classes is to
give the expectant mother, a bet-
ter understanding of pregnancy
and labour. In addition, where
the family "physician approves,
the expectant mother may par-
ticipate in exercises which are
helpful in preparation for. the de-

livery and the puerperium.
These will be held at weekly
intervals for eight weeks. Those
.interested are invited to attend or
phone the health unit, between
9':00 a,m. and 5:00'p.m.

Sunday service
for Mrs. Taylor
Funeral service was held on
Sunday at the S. J. Walker
Funeral Home in Wingham for
Mrs. Andrew Taylor who died
Friday' at Huronview, Clinton.
Rev. Barry Passmore officiated
at the 2:30 p.m. service and inter-
ment followed in the Wingham
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Omar Hasel-
grove, Howard Machan and
George Scott of Wingham,
Kenneth Wheeler, Ross Anderson
and Charles Higgins of Belgrave.
Ross- Higgins and Norman
Higgins, both of Belgrave,
carried flowers.
Before moving to Huronview
.Mrs. Taylor resided at 110 John
Street in Wingham. She was in
her 94th year and death followed
a brief illness.
The former Caroline Jane
Wheeler, she was 'born and edu-
cated in Morris Township, a
daughter of the late Charles and
Mary Ann Wheeler. •
On November 11, 1903, she
married Mr. Taylor in Belgrave.
In 1918 the( purchased the
Queen's Hotel. He predeceased
her in 1937. Mrs. Taylor retired
from active business five years
ago.
Left to mourn her passing are
two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Myrtle)
Anderson of Belgrave and Mrs.
Nelson (Lena) Higgins of Morris
Township; and one brother Cecil
Wheeler of Fort Wayne, Indiana;.
Mrs. Taylor was a member of
the Wingham United Church and
the Order' of the Eastern ; Star.

dies' in Toronto
Mrs. Fred Beatty, the former
Vera Elizabeth Stapleton, passed
away in Toronto, Monday, March
27, in her 84th year.
Born in Howick Township, Mrs:
Beatty. was the eldest daughter of
the late James Stapleton and his
wife Susan Wade. She was mar-
ried by Rev. G. Victor Collins of
Wingham Baptist Church 'on June
12, 1913 to Frederick Alexander
Beatty who predeceased her in
August 1952.
' Surviving is one son Elmer of
Toronto and one granddaughter,
Barbara, Mrs. Gordon Scatcherd
of Germany; one sister Florence
(Mrs. Bert Holmes) and one
brother Arthur Stapleton both of
Wingham also survive. One sister
Annie (Mrs. Alex Cameron)
passed away in 1915 also a broth-
er James Stapleton in 1969 and a'
sister Mae (Mrs. Milas Cameron)
in 1970.
The funeral was from the Trull
Funeral Home, 2704 Yonge St. To-
ronto at 1 p.m. Thursday, March
30, to Westminster Memorial
Gardens. Service was, conducted
by Rev. Jack Roberts ' of St.
David's Anglican Church.
Jas. Doig dies
in hospital
James I. Doig of Wingham
passed away Friday at the Wing -
ham and District Hospital follow-
ing a brief illness. He was in his
83rd year.
Born in Carrick Township, Mr.
- Doig was a son of the late John
and Annie Doig. Following his
elementary school training in
Carrick he farmed in Western
Canada for 30 years 4" before
returning to a farm in Ontario.
Mr. Doig had lived in Wingham
since 1968 and was a member of
the United Church here. '
Surviving are his wife, the for-
mer Edith Gowdy of Howick
Township; two sons, Lorne of
Drayton and Mac of Dundalk and
one daughter, Mrs. Bradley
(Evelyn) Galbraith of East
Wawanosh Township. He is also
survived by 11 grandchildren;
one brother John and one sister,
Nellie, both of Wingham.
The late Mr. Doig rested at the
S. J. Walker Funeral Home in
Wingham where service was held
Monday at 2 p.m. Interment was
in Wroxeter Cemetery. ,
Pallbearers were six grand-
sons, Phil, Kent, Vaughn, Paul,
Gary and Terry Doig. Jacqualine
Doig and Karen Galbraith
carried floral tributes.

was held at the Orange Hall last
Saturday morning from 9.:45 to
11:30.
The meeting opened with the
vice president, April McBurney,
leading the opening exercises
which included the promise,
member's prayer, motto and.

Scott took charge of the roll call.
Minutes of the last meeting
were read by Laurie Stackhouse,

Thegirls welcomed four new
members, Sheila Anderson, Kelly
Lougheed, Lisa Thompson and
Judy Carmichael.
New business included naming,
leaders for the next meeting:

offertory prayer was given . by
Laurie Stackhouse. '
• A sing -song was led by Janette
Johnston. "Now We Close Our
Meeting" was sung, followed by
the closing prayer.
Former Goderich
publisher dies
George Ellis, who ' was the
owner and publisher of The
Goderich Signal -Star for 20
years, died suddenly on Tuesday
morning of this ::►eek.Hisll death
was believed to be the result of a
heart seizure.
Mr. Ellis was born at Mount
Forest and after a wide ex-
perience in the field of journalism
he served for severalyears as a
public relations officer with the
Canadian , Army during the Sec-
ondWord War,;He purchased the. ,
,Goderich paper shortly after the
war and continued as its owner
until he sold to Robert G. Sprier,
the present publisher in 1966.
Since•his retirement he had de-
voted a great part of his time to
the writing of a book ' on the his-
tory of newspapers in Huron
County.

• A mature, resourceful person of, sound character
• Must possess neat work and dress habits
•Must be able to meet and communicate with people
• Business background or better
• Self-starter with initiative
•Good organizer and planner of time and people, etc.
•Must have leadership capability
• Bookkeeping experience would be of some assetin
understanding breadth of duties
• High School education or bettor preferred but ex-
perience will be considered. Each applicant to be
judged on merit.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE
•Custodial services for all municipal bldgs.
•Act as purchasing agent for Town of Wingham
• Inter -departmental co-ordination of men and
equipment
• Supervision and scheduling f 'departmental itpera-
tions
•Efficient ' methods of operation in co-operation with
council, committees of council and the clerk -
treasurer.
Salary to be discussed. Six-month Probationary Period
shall be a condition of employment.
