nearly reached, in regard to annexation
advocates in Canada., and that a rude
awakening will ensue before long. '
And the awakening will occur none too
soon. I, sir, will take my stand for
Canadian Independence ageinst the Re-
corder's Inc annexation, and ealmly ,wait
for ten or twenty years ; and then sum
up results. Canadian Independence is no
insult to the intelligence of Canadians ;
is no disloyalty to Britain ; would be a
wise and politic step for Canada soon, to
take, as there would be some actual
benefit at least attached to it. Annexa-
tion is the reverse of all this. And the
Recorder will find in rule year if it preach -
ea annexation ai sttongly in each issue as
inthat of the 28th nit, that the Canadian
people will not telerate its views.
If being an anti -Annexationist is being
a Tory, then I am a Tory, and so are the
farmers up and down all the concessions
in this township, and I might say comity,
though a majority of them have hitherto
followed Edward Blake audOliver Mowat.
Once convince these people that the Globe

sentimeas of the Liberal leaders, then the
bowl will begin. A. gest number are arse-
