GRANNY GOWNS The Granny Gowns held their third meeting at the home of Mrs. Mel Penny on March 6. Roll all was answered with "Why you chose your material?" Business was discussing covers for the books which are to be black. The girls were shown how .to stay - stitch, darts, plain fell, French and taped seams. The next meet- ing will be held at the home of Mrs. Doug Bunker. COZY DOZERS. BELGRAVE — Members of the Belgrave H club decided on the name Cozy Dozers when- they held thier second meeting at the home of Marion and Marlene Mc- Gee. President Helen Chandler brought the meeting to order and Marilyn Robertson read the minutes of the last meeting. Record books are to be checked at the third, sixth and seventh meetings. Mauve and black will be4:ooks.used for the covers of the 43 The girls discussed their patterns. Mrs. Chandler 'demon- strated how to alter the, shoulder width by cutting the pattern and inserting a wedge, either wide or narrr depending on the width needed. Mrs. Robertson demon- strated how to alter -the length of, bothtops and bottoms of py- jamas. The. members then laid their patterns on the material and be- gan marking and cutting them. The leaders helped them check a andalterthe patterns as re- quired. BED BUGS BELMORE L- Beth Mundell read 'the minutes for the second meeting when the club' name was ch-OTPTC-It=was announced that Achievement Day will be on June. 10. ' Discussion centred on what the pattern tells you and the instruc- tion sheet inside, alteration, the layout, cutting, pinning and marking. Mrs. MacAdam de- monstrated pinning and cutting. WAK E-ME-NOTS BELMORE' — Wednesday, March 1st was the date of the sec- ond meeting. All members an, swered the mill call and the minutes were read by Brenda Finlay. It was decided to call the club Belmore Wake-Me-Nots. Discus- sion and demonstration was on getting ready to cut, cutting and marking. The meeting was closed with a lunch served by Myra and Judy. SLEEPING BEAUTIES Ten girls were present when the Sleeping Beauties met at Mrs. Jacklin's home. Roll call was an- swered by each, girl showing her fabricAnd pattern and stating why se chose each. Mrs. Orin demonstrated how to prepare fabric and cut, how to pin on the pattern and cut it out She also explained the markings on the pattern. Each girl completed her hand sheets. SLEEPING BEAUTIES BLUE VALE — On Frida-y, the fourth meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Alex MacTavish, presided over by Vickey Peel, president. The minutes were read by the secretary, Darlene. - Stamper. Mrs. MacTavish showed the girls how to make 'bias binding and Mrs. W. Stamper demon- strated putting cording into sleepwear. The members worked on their garments. The next meeting was set for March L7. SLEEPING BEAUTIES ' LAKEI,ET — The 4-H club girls met at the home of Susan Angst on Friday at 5 p.m. The meeting opened with the pledge. Roll call was 'A name for the club'. The result was `Lakelet Sleeping Beauties'. The next meeting will be Saturday, Mar0,18, at 10 q.m. at the home,oFBatbai.a Mann. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Judith Ann Murray. Secretary for this Aneeting was Ellen Murray. Miss Huth dis- cussed cutting fabrics and alter- ing shoulder length. Mrs. Hall- man discussed altering pyjama trouser length and z.-utting ,and marking patterns rhe girls filled out the 'handout sheets. Meeting closed, with the 4-H motto. • BED KNOBS All members were present for the 4-H homemaking project, Sleepwear, held at Mrs. Jacklin's home on March 6. Each member showed her fabric and pattern for the roll call. Mrs. Jacklin demonstrated how to straighten fabric, alter pattern and correct way to' lay pattern on fabric and also showed procedure for cutting and mark- ing. The handout sheets were filled in and, each junior member put her pattern on "fabric. •!Iowa Lions' bingo winners.
