Sunday's regular chapel ser-
vice was supplemented by a sing-
song Sunday evening presented
by the Christi -an Reformed Young
People under the leadership of
Dick Roorda.
The regular M.onday afternoon
old tyme music session was held
with the accompaniment pro-
vided by Norman Speir, Mrs.
Mary Taylor and Miss Della
Peart.
On Wednesday the Kinettes
were on hand to serve tea to the
residents and sing a 'few songs
after the luncheon. During the
program a wheelchair was pre-
sented to the home by the Kin-
ettes. Mr. Archibald accepted it
and thanked the ladies on behalf
of the residents.
Thursday's Family Night pro-
gram presented by Jim Laurie .of
Blyth was a very great success as
far as the/120 residents in atten-
dance were concerned. Being
Bobby Burns Night the program
was, of course, Scottish.
The show began wit,ti Mrs.
Adelaine Campbell and Jim
Laurie singing two duets, "Flow
Gently Sweet Afton" and "When
WI and I Were Young Maggie"
The Wharton Family namely.
Hugh and James Wharton. Sylvia
and Sherrie Bromer, played • a
Medley of numbers including.
"You Take' - the High Road",
"Buffalo (jai", and "Put on Your.
Old Grey Bonnet". James then
sang -Nobody's Child" and
following this James and Sherri
sang the French song
"Dominigue".
Avon Toll was the next per-
former and she very capably
danced the Highland Fling.
Angela Duttman on her accor-
dion played "Popcorn Polka"
and "Grand Old Medley-.
Mrs. Campbell returned this
time by herself to sing "Mary
Argyle", and "I'll Take You
Home Kathleen".
Bill Hicks treated us to three
saxophone solos, "Peek -a -Boo",
"The Waltz You Saved for Me"
and "You're the Only Star' in My
Blue Heaven". ,
Jim Laurie did two numbers
which one could probably hear in
a Scotti-sh pub. The songs were
"She's Ma Daisy" and "She's the
Lass for Me".
The Whartons gave an encore
performance consisting of "Life
Is Like a Mountain Railway",
"Telephone to Glory" and
'Anchor to Jesus''.
Jini Laurie got back to the
lighter side again when he sang
"I Love a Lassie" and "Stop Your
Tickling;, Jack'.
The • famous Scottish sword
dance was ne`xt with Avon Toll
the entertainer. Accordion music
by Angela Duttrnan once again
filled the auditorium as she
played "Scotland the Brave",
and "Spanish Eyes". Bill Hicks
and 'his saxaphone returned to
provide us with "Easter Par-
ade". "The World Is Waiting for
the Sunrise" and "Now Is the
Hour".
One person not mentioned yet
who did a very capable job was
Mrs. Grace Brown who was the*
pianist throughout the program.
The evening, was brought to an
end in a very appropriate and
practical manner by the joining,
of hands and the singing of "Auld.
Lang Syne".
Fond of practical jokes, a man
sent a friend a telegram collect
which read: -I am perfectly well
and in fine shape." A week later
this very same joker received a
heavy parcel , collect , on Which' he
had- to pay considerable charges.
Opening it, he found a big block of
concrete and the accompanying
message: "This is the weight
your telegram lifted from my
m i rid , "
