COMMERCIAL LEAGUE
Joyce Gaunt continued her hot
streak to again tumble the pins
for a high triple of 605, the fourth
week in a row she has outbowled
the other players. Shirley Zim-
mer camb up with a good game to
.take the high single with 260.
Wes Simmons rolled 288 for the
high single honors and Frank
Burke totalled an even 700 for the
men's high -triple.
Thanks are again due to the
spares, Wes Simmons, Shirley
Zimmer, Earl Young and Betty
Harris.
All of the teams gained a few
points this past week, including
the Newfies who ,have been at a
standstill for five weeks. Team
standings now are Boxers 72
points, Mutts 67, Retrievers 62,
Collies 55, Newfies 51 and
Beagles 45.
SR. LADIES
Mrs. Elsie Congram rolled the
high single of 176' but there were
several good, singles. Mrs. Emily
Williams had. a 165; Mrs. Ethel
'Holmes a 163 and Mrs. Mary Mc-
Kinney a 160.
The high double, a 319, was
bowled by Mrs. Jean . Crump.

LEGION LADIES
The Coffee Crisps are way out
in front with 66 points; their clos-
est rivals are the Snack Bars with
52 points: The Smarties are up to
35. and the Sweet Maries have 29
points.
Mrs. Muriel Irvine rolled both
the high single of 256 and the high
triple of 691. In both cases Norma
Strong was runner-up with her
scores of 251 and 666. •

Bruins' wins tighten
race in novice league
Last place Brophy's Bruins
closed the gap in the Novice
House League standing this past
week with two wins and the team
coming into its own in the goal -
scoring department with eight
shots finding the net.
Last Monday the Bruins do
feated Canadian Tire Canadiens
3=1 on goals by Robert Desjardins
and John O'Hagan who scored
twice. The goal for the second
place Canadiens came from the
stick of Ken Hopper.
On Thursday night the Bruins
shut -out CKNX Hawks 5-0 and as
the score indicates, were hustling
all through the game. John 0' -
Hagan capped his two -goal effort
of Monday with three' tallies in
.this game and Bruce McIntyre
and Steve McKay 'added the oth-
ers.

Police Maple Leafs continued
their winning ways Friday night
when the blue and white clad
team defeated. Canadiens 2 -0• -on
goals by Darryl Holmes and Ste-
ven Bridges. The Hawks -Leafs
game billed for last Tuesday was
cancelled because of bad weatb-
er. To help the league statistician
keep records up to date, this fix-
ture was declared a scoreless tie
with each team gaining a point.
Team standings: Maple Leafs
30 points, Canadiens 22, Hawks 19
and Bruins 18 points.
This Thursday and Friday will
see Maple Leafs and Hawks clash
and Bruins meet the Canadiens.
On Monday Canadiens play the
top place Leafs and on Tuesday
the Hawks and Bruins battle four
third place. 'With the regular
schedule ending.February 18, Ca.-
nadiens, Hawks and Bruins will
be seeking wins to try and oust
the Leafs from top spot.

with your snowmobile than you

zone finals
The last series of bowling to
qualify for the Four Steps‘to Star-
dom was held Saturday. Those
who qualified to advance to the
zone finals as singles were Jay
MacLaurin and Peggy Tervit in
the bantam division, Jeff Croskillr
and Joall.Gerson as juniors and
Tom Lee and Marg McLaughlin
in the senior category.

win two games
-F)RDWICH - The girls hoc-
key team played two games this
week, corning out on top in boti'
encounters.
Wednesday night they took on
the Palmerston'girls in the local
arena and scored a 7-5 victory.
On Friday night they played host
to the Wroxeter girls and again
scored a victory. this time with a
7-4 score:
' On Wednesday night as well,
the local bantams hosted the Bel -
more team and came out on the
short end of a 16-4 score. Satur-
day afternoon the Belmore
squirts visited the ar.na here and
defeated the local squirts 7-2.
Restaurant owner: "What is
your complaint, sir?"
Customer: "Well, I've been on
bread and water for all;lost an
hour.''
