games, ,defeatir Brophy's
Bruins 4-0 last Monday and
CKNX Hawks 7-2 on Thursday
night, increasing their 'league
lead by four points.
In the game with the Bruins,
Rick MacLennan scored three
and Tim Morrison the other goal.
MacLennan netted six against
the Hawks with Eric McGregor
getting the seventh goal. Scott
Cornwall scored both goals for
the Hawks.
Canadian Tire Canadiens also
added four pints, defeating
Hawks 3-2 on Tuesday night and
shutting out the Bruins 1-0 last
Friday. In the first game Craig
Brydges scored two goals with
,Ken Hopper adding the third
while Kevin Netterfield scored
the lone goal in the game with the
Bruins,
While playing good hockey, the
Bruins are in a scoring slump and
for the past Iwo weeks have failed
to add to their point total, holding
last place with 12 points. The
Hawks also failed this past week
to improve their standing, but
hold second place with 18 points.
Team Standings: Maple Leafs 25
points, Hawks 18, Canadiens 17
and Bruins 12 points.

Owen Sound
Graduates and seniors of the
Golden Circle School participated
in a bowling tournament at Owen
Sound Saturday, January 8, for
trainees of sheltej-ed,workshops.
The event was sponsored by the
Owen Sound - Associatio: ;3° the
MeLita141 Retarded and directed
by Rick Patterson, recreation
chairman. The local arrange-
ments were made by Mrs. Harold
Wild, recreation chairman for
Zone 2. About 18 teams from -Re-
gions 2 and 5 participated..
Trophies were presented to
successful teams at a banquet
held at St. Mary's parish hall, fol-
lowed by a social time.
The Golden Circle School was
represented by Verner Caswell
and Bill. Kirton of Wingham and
Waltraut Eisenburger, Donald
Whitby and David Tebow of
Lucknow. Accompanying them
were Murray Hale, recreation
staff, University" of Waterloo;
Mrs. Florence Reavie, George
Cameron and Mrs. Wild of Wing -
ham •

,SNOWMOBILES CAN BE DANGEROUS
SNOWMOBILES CAN BE ANNOYING

Therefore it is requested that all snowmobilers —
(1) Refrain absolutely from using the town limits for snow-
mobiling EXCEPT to go to and from the countryside.
(2) That snowmobilers stay off the 'streets after 12:00 a.m.
week -nights and 1:00 a.m. week -ends.
(3) Maintain, maximum speed of 10 m.p.h. within town limits.
The Wingham Town Council is not interested in passing re-
strictive-snownvbile by-laws. The council is prepared to do so,
- however, if snowmobilers fail to observe the above requests._
The Wingham and DistrictSnowmobile Association recommends
that snowmobilers be a good example, and be ready to speak
to a violator . . . he may just be unaware of the rules.
You are invited to become a member of the association.

the spirits of the Cubs last Thurs-
day night . We had a few badges to°
give out. Derrel. Zimmerman
received his collector's badge. He
had a collection of hockey players
That he had pasted in a nice little
book. Reuben Jacklin also
received his colrector's, badge for
'a fine collection of hockey
players..
Vaughn Passmore brought in
some toys -he -had -male- ttliffself: •
.He had made an airplane out of
"odds and ends" and a car of a
plastic model kit. The most intri-
cate toy, however, was a space
man attached to a spaceship.He
received his tdymaker's badge.,

The Cub meeting on January 20
16 cancelled. On February 3 we
will invite all parents for a crafts:
night, when we will put on a dis-
play -of the Cubs' work for badges
and stars: So, mothers and,
fathers, keep that night in mind
for your scins.
Novices lose

Th Wingham Novice Hockey
Club ended up on the short end of
a 3-2 score in their game last
weekend with Teeswater.
- Keith Cameron opened the
scoring at 1:40 of the first period
with Steve (McKay getting the
assist but Wingham could not
hold the lead, falling behind 2-1 at
the end of the second period.'
In the final period of play.
Teesvt'aler increased their lead
then at 9:15 Scott McGregr
registered Wingham's second
goal following play by Tom Rem-
ington and Bruce LeVan.

Despite The cold biting winds
. and, somewhat unpromising.
weather on Sunday, a small
group .of enthugiastic snowno-
bilers from Wingham loaded up
their machines and travelled to
the Hully-Gully Sno-Sport ('entre.
located Southwest of Brueefield.
Snow conditions were excellent
for snowrnobiling.,
A feature Of the day was an
hour and a half guided trail tour
which was thoroughly enjoyed -by
all thoge who participated.
Except for a few very cold feet
and 1 hiciacTi hal Leroy Jack-
son had a slight spill and lost his
pipe, which according to his wife
is 'not unusual, everyone spent an
enjoyable afternoon.

Mt.Donald 10-2, had a tie game 8-8
with Bob McKague'but emerged
the winner,then won -over
Murray Rae 8-5. •

ing blankets as prizes.

with hams, 'the prizes for
finishing third, registering. two ..

solation prizes.
Others in the 11 a.m. draw were
Hante Ballagh of Teeswater,
Lloyd Carter, Wingham: Dave '
McCallum, Ilelmore.
Jack Bowmanof Brussels lost
his first game in the 9 a.m. draw
but came -through with two wins
and a plus of 9 to finish first and
qualify for Kenwood blankets.
Jim Hawkins of Goderich plac'ed -
second having two wins and a
plus of 8 and also received blan-
kets. The Len Archambault rink
of Auburn took third spot with
two Wins and a plus of 4 to receive
third, prizes of hams.

grave captured the consolation
prizes and other rinks competing.

and John Cruickshank who
proved to be goad hosts by each
losing two games to give visiting
rinks better final scores.
Bill Stephenson was the draw
master and posted the scores
each game. Norman MacLennan
presented the 'trophy to the win-
ning Teeswater entry.
Curries' School
euchre party
WHITECHURCH — Curries'
School' progressive euchre club
held its card party on Friday in
the arena assembly rooms -at Bel -
grave. There were seven tables of
players.
Prize winners were Gershorn
Johnson, high -gent ; .Norman
Coultes; novelty; Jim Coultes,
low prize. High lady was Mrs,
Dick Moore; novelty, Mrs.
Wheeler; low, Mrs. NOrman
Coultes. •
The sponsors, Mr. and Mrs.
George Walker and Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Taylor served lunch.
The next party will be Jantary
21st, weather permitting, when
Mr. and Mrs. Howard -Walker and
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pattison will be
in charge.
