Minor Hockey. Wk
excellent time
to attend games
Many slogans ,have been used
this past five years to call atten-
tion to Minor Hockey Week and
the need for adults to take more
interest in the program planned
for the younger players in the
communi ty. . '
"Don't send—take your boy to
the arena—andStay to,watch hirh
play", applies to a few parents
locally, but the Wingham Minor
Hockey Association would like to
see more adults attend games.
"To keep a .boy out of •hot
wJr—put him on ice", makes a
lot of sense for it is an established
fact that idle boys sooner or later
seek adventure which leads to
activities, sometimes outside of
the law. Fortunately, in Wing -
ham the 'minor hockey program
provides a healthy outlet for a
large number of boys, but the
success of any program still lies
in the hands of the spectators.-- .
Minor HockeY.in Canada Week
starts Saturday, January 22, and
during this week many tetams in
various age categories will play,
providing an excellent reason for
adults to attend . at least one
game.

• Paul Foxton scored a cliff-
hanging goal with one secona left
to play in the Novice game bet-
ween Wingham and Goderichlast
Friday night to give the visiting
Wingham club a 1-1 tie.
Goderich scored late in the
second period and the goal stood
up until the final second. Wing -
ham and Goderich -battled on
even terms and with only 30
seconds remaining, Wingham got
a breakaway which could have
resulted in a game bpt an offside
nullified the play.
With hope and, time-- both
running out and behind a goal,
Paul Foxton broke away, deked
the defense and let a shot go to
have the Goderich goalie pull off
the save but gave a rebound away
whichToxton tucked into the net.
