Large entry makes
Men flexed their muscles,
women spoke diffidently of their
bowling prowess, sons and
daughters either looked super
confident or perhaps a little shy
at the prospect of bowling . with
one of their parents.
This was the setting at the
Wingham bowling lanes last
week when Earl Young an-
noupced the rules governing the
Family Twosome Tournament
where fathers or mothers bo*led
with their athletic offspring, their
combined scores the vital part of
the contest.
Evidence ,that a few of the
adults had not bowled for some
time was shown in one . pair of
bowling shoes with turned -up
toes, the result of being in storage
for awhile, the occasional ball
that somehow found its way into
the gutter and the manner in
which some showed amazing
t s1;ccT.1s.
dexterity in not falling over the
foul line.
On the other hand, p few of the
parents left no doubt in the minds
of the partners, and onlookers,
that bawling was their dung and
toppled pins with ease.
The Fames Twosome Toprna-
tent is the latest competition
arranged by the Youth. Bowling
Cowell and is participated in by
parents and youngsters from
coast to coast during the holiday.
season. Due to the fine response
locally, it was necessary to -hold
the tournament over two even-
ings.
Based on the ages of the young
competitors,, thecompetition was
divided into bantam, ju iior and
senior groups. , The age of the
parents was incidental.
The father -daughter team of
Gary and Janet Storey had a
total score of $51, grenda, Mac -

COMMERCIAL LEAGUE
Only two games were bowled
by the Commercial League -as it
was Christmas party night.
Barb Dauphin won high single
and high double with, a 289 and a
564 for the. ladies. For the men
Harold Metcalfe had a high single -
of 280 and Lee Grove captured the
high double of 544.
Hidden bowling scores for
some good chicken eating were
.won by Joyce Gaunt, Joan Moore,
• Lou Headman and Eric Walden.
We had much better attendance;
our thanks to our only spare,
Shirley Zimmer.
The teams ended the year with
the Boxers out in front with 55
points. The Retrievers had. 50;
Mutts 47; Newfies 46; Collies 38
and Beagles 34.
A pleasant time was spent "at
the Legion Hall where some who
weren't so lucky at bawling;were
lucky at cards. Marty Cretier had
"'the most lone hands and the Bax-
ters, Ruth and—God, teamed up
to take the ladies' and men's high
scores. Dorothy Cameron de-
cided if you can't be high, you
might as well be at the other end
of the scare.
Winners 'of lucky draws were
Alex Walden, cheese tray; Bob
Holmes, sheepskin rug; . and.
Maxine Taylor, the surprise
package of a nice ice -bucket.
Thanks, Mr: and Mrs: Presi-
dent and' members of. the execu-
tive, for a happy time.
