meeting of the Evening Unix of
the United Church Women met
at the home of Miss A,nate
Cook, Mrs, Kenneth Wheeler
and Miss Cook opened the meet
ing with a Thanksgiving wor-
ship service.
Miss Cook read the Scrip -
ture followed by prayer. The
offering was received and dedi-
cated followed by a hymn. ,
Mrs, James Coultes conduct-
ed the business. Minutes were
read and thirteen members an-
swered the roll call. One home'
and 21 hospital visits were re-
corded. It was decided to ask

modelled °the wedding gown. and brides-
maids' dresses which they -wore only a
few weeks ago at her wedding, as a climax
to last, week's fashion show, at the United
Church. The bridal gown of white peau
de sole with floral lace' bodice featured a
standup collar. The flowing train of
matching lace and five tiered wedding veil
held by a sparkling tiara were also made
of material from McDonald's. Bridal rose
brocade in a style similar to the wedding
gown was used for her sisters' dresses.--

WROXETER- -The Women's
Institute held their meeting at •
the home of Mrs. Howard Wylie
on October 14 at 2:30 in the af-
ternoon. Mrs. Ron McMichael,
president, was in the chair. The
meeting opened with singing
the Opening Ode, followed by
the Institute Creed.
Mrs. McMichael read apoem
entitled "Thankful for What?"
There were fourteen members
and three guests present. Roll
call was answered by suggesting
"Something In To -day's Society
That Should Be Changed".
Th'e motto, "Look Before
You Leap But Don't Be Afraid
to Leap", was prepared and
presented by Mrs. William
Coulter.
Mrs.: McIviichaei congratu-
lated the ladies who arranged
the Institute exhibit at the
Howick fair. They won third
prize there. Reports on the
County Rally at Dungannon
were given by Mrs. William .
Wright and Mrs. Laurie Van-
Velsor. Mrs. C. R. Allan and
Mrs, Les Douglas gave reports
from the Area convention held
in. Guelph. Minutes of the pre -
vin s meeting were read and
approved and a donation was
made to the Ladies' Auxiliary
to the Win ham Hospital.

on the art of weaving was given
by Mrs. C. R Allan. Mrs .
Clark Sharp was auctioneer

The meeting closed with a
delicious lunch served by the
hostesses, Mrs. R. Lockwood
and Mrs. W. Newton,assisted
by Mrs. Wylie.

Sach gave the address at the
Autumn Thankoffering service
in the.Gorrie United Church on
Sunday morning. Assisting in
Stephens and Mrs. A. A. Tay-
lor.
Mrs. Sach, Who is a nurse
and also deaconess, told of her
stirring experience in Labrador.
Rev. and Mrs. Sach spent 11
years there as missionaries and
she taught midwifery to the Es-
kimos and the settlers in an
area of 300 rniles. These could
only be reached by dog team
in winter and by motorboat in
the summer. Their supplies
arrived by boat onCe a year in
July.
