The Board authorized D. J.
Cochrane , director of educa-
tion, R. B. Dunlop, business

superintendent of schools, and
the two assistant superintend-
ents of schools, to attend the
conference.
Mr. Cochrane explained that
a number of groups or associa-
tions existed to represent the
Boards.. and more particularly
the view of the body of officials
each kepresented, to the Ontar-
io Department of Education.

County Boards of Education, it
was decided by each of the
groups that amalgamation into
one body that would speak with
one voice, was necessary." the
director stated.
Two important meetings
were announced by the Board:
Tuesday. October 28, Board
Room, Clinton, Advisory Voca-
tional Committee, which in -
cludes a number of appointed
members; Thursday, October
30, Board Room, Clinton, Ad-
visory Committee on Schools
for Trainable Retarded Children.
D. J. Cochrane announced
that the Arbitration Commit-
tee, nowthat all necessary fig-
ures and data are available to
them, have met and seem to
be launched into their task. A
letter addressed to the chairman
of the Board from the arbitrat--•
ors of Middlesex County, in
which a joint meeting was sug-
gested, was referred to the Hur-
on County arbitrators.

held Monday night at Mrs. Les
Jackli's home with an attend-
ance of thirteen. The minutes
were read by Beverley Burchill.

Achievement Day will be
held in Lucknow December 6
and the record books are to be
handed in to Mrs. Jacklin by
November 22. The record
book covers will be white with
black printing. .The leader
showed how 'to make the fly
and Milian stitches and each
girlmade a sample for her re-
cord book, then made twisted
cord to be mounted in the re-
cord books.

ber U. C. W. meeting was held
Tuesday evening in the United
Church with Mrs. John Hilde-
brand in charge, assisted by
Mrs. Morley Johnston and Mrs.
Murray Wilson. Mrs. Hilde-
brand read the Scripture and the
Thanksgiving meditation. The
hymn "Now Thank We All Our
God", was repeated in unison
followed by the Lord's Prayer.
Mrs. Johnston gave a" reading
"The Pilgrims". The Learning

Letters were read from Marg-
aret Roberts of Costa Rica. A
contest "Paul Was There" was
conducted. Mrs. Johnston gave
another reading and roll call
was answered by giving a white
gift, "Come Ye Thankful Peo-

fering received. Mrs. Stuart
Chamney read the minutes of
the previous meeting. Invita-
tions were read from Auburn
O. C. W. and St. Augustine
C. W. L. and the regional meet-
ing on October 24 at Benmiller

A motion was made to get

was held and lunch was served

BLUEVALE-- The fifth meet
ing on October 14 was held at
the home of Mrs. MacTavish. -
Places where the lazy daisy and
chain stitches could be used
were named for roll call. The
members learned the fly and Ro-
man stitches and discussed the
method of putting their plc -
tures on brown paper.
