Mr. Bill Higgins, Bruce Mines, spent the week -end' with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stew- art Higgins. Visitors with Mrs. A. Wear- ing at the week -end were Mr. and Mrs. Norman Carson and family of Brockville, Miss Hel- en Gibson of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. David Livingstone and family , Scarborough. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Hart and family were. in Kingsville for the holiday week -end where they visited Mr., and Mrs. Ernie Queen. Mrs. John Bolt of Richard's Landing visited with her son-in- law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Higgins, Turnberry, at the week -egad. She was accompan- ied by Mrs. Frank Brason who visited Mr. and Mrs. James Sanderson. Mr. Dick Allan and .Miss Marlene McLeod of Toronto were week -end guests with his parents, Mr. and -Mrs. Mac Al- lan. Mr. George Allan, Sarnia, spent Thanksgiving Day at the same home. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Sanderson were in Toronto for the week- end where they visited their son- in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mclntee. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Iredom and family, St. Thomas, spent the holiday week -end with her parents', Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ac- kerman. Mr.' and Mrs. Fraser Haugh and Eileen spent Sunday with Mrs. Issac Stokes and Edith of Turnberry. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hislop M. and Mrs. Ronald Metz- ger and family of Bridgeport , Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Metzger and family of Palmerston, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Halerwich and Caroline of Listowel visited Mr. and Mrs. Ken Pellett and fam- ily on Sunday. The guest speaker was District Governor of District A-9 Lion Howard B. Hender- son of Owen Sound. who was making his official visit tctte club. Mr. Henderson has been a member of zhe Owen Sound Club for 12 years. He hasbeen president of that club and filled various important district offi- ces, which qualified him for the office of District Governor. to which he was'elected in Ot- tawa at the District Convention in May 1969, and installedinto office at the International Con- vention in Tokyo, Japan, July 1969, He will hold this office until June 3.Oth , 1970. There ate 43 Lions' Clubs in Lion Howard Disitrict of which Howiek is One, The How MR HENDERSON ikk Club has been in operation for 26 years, There are 28 ;Mice Men in this club. The president is Lion Lloyd Felker, of R R. 2, Gorrie. Some of the projects the Lowick Lions' Club have taken part in during the .last year are: Bingos held every two weeks in Wroxeter hall; an annual Rum- mage Sale held in Corrie Arena; gave assistance in the annual drive for the Blind; donated $150 to the swimming project held annually in the Community Park in Gorrie; aided a needy family financially. Future projects will include: old time dances to be held once a month in the winter; the erec- ting of signs for the three vill- ages of Wroxeter, Gorrie and Fordwich; and the sponsoring of a juvenile hockey team. The Governor gave a most in- teresting .account of his recent visit to the Lions' International Convention held last summer in japan, lie said that 2q frgrn District A-9 attended', and QQQ Ontario bions marched' in the ;parade. The club was also informed that the Distriet's 9bjeetive this year is to form five new Clubs, and every Lion member was urged to strive to procure new members during October. Mr. Henderson also .spoke, on East Pakistan Relief. He said $44 would build a house there, and that these houses would be built on streets named for the various Lion Districts. The How- ick Club voted $66 for the build- ing of two houses on District A-9 Street.
