at W.I. meeting
BLUEVALE--The Women's In-
stitute met at the home of Mrs.
W. J. Peacock on Thursday
evening, with Mrs. J. C. John-
ston -in charge. Mrs. Bernard
Thomas, convener of home
economics, conducted thepro-
gram and gave brief comments.
Mrs. Walter Willits gave the
topic, "Safety". With the use
of pictures and pamphlets she
described the many hazards, in
operating farm machinery, es-
pecially tractors, also the dang-
ers from'fire. Many safetyhints
were given and discussion fol-
lowed. Mrs. 'Charles Mathers
presented Mrs. Willits with a
gift.
Mrs. Mel Craig gave the
motto, "One can value' a house ,
none can value a home", sug-
gesting that affection, not pos-
sessions,' make a home.
The roll call was, "Why I
Buy Canadian Goods. "
A resolution in favor of the
improvement of TV programs
in certain respects, was passed,
to be finally sent to CBC.
Mrs. Robert Fraser was ap-
pointed a delegate to the Guelph
Area Convention on October 8.
Delegates appointed to the
County Rally at Dungannon were
Mrs. J. C. Johnston and Mrs.
Charles Mashers.
Mrs. Jack Nicholson, ,Mrs.

ing of the Women's Institute
was held Thursday night with
the president, Mrs. Harold Wal-
lace in the chair. Mrs. Wal -
lace thanked the ladies who
helped to clean the hall.
The minutes were read and
approved. A thank you note
was read from Mrs. Robert Al-
lan. Mrs. Derril Hallman was
named delegate to the A r e -a
Convention at Guelph on Octo-
ber 8 and 9 with Mrs. Lloyd
Jacques as alternate. Mrs. Wal-
lace was appointed to look of-.

BELMORE--Special morning
and evening anniversary serv-
ices were held on Sunday in
Knox Presbyterian Church, at 11
and 7:30. Guest speaker at both
services was Rev. Charles A.
McCarroll of Brussels.
His topic in the morning was
"The Cloud by Day, the Fire
by Night", wherein he stated
that as were the Israelites, we
are .also dependent on the guid-
ance of God. In the evening,
he spoke on "Three Men on the
Cross", saying that today there
are still people who reject and
people who accept the Saviour,
and stressing the vital nt<ed, to
accept His way in this modern
agc.
The junior and senior Choirs
sang anthems at both services,
under the direction of choir
leader, Mrs. Alvin Mundell..,
Miss Evelyn Dickson played the
organ for both services.
Rev. Keith Wettlaufcr was in
charge of regular service in the
United Church. Their anniver-
sary services will be held next
week at 2:30 p. in. with.a form-
er pastor, Rev. A. Hewitt, in
charge.
