Unit of the UCW held the Sep-
tember meeting in the Stinday
School rooms. Mrs. Ken Gra-
ham had charge of the worship
service which was based on the
theme, September or School
Days.
Mrs, Leslie Penny showed a
film on Child Guidance, Voca-
tion and Stewardship. Mrs. Ken
Graham read a story on spiritual
teaching as well as secular
teaching as a must to lead a
child in the right. way. The film
showed ways in which it works
to help in the cities .with the
young people. Mrs. Crosby
Sothern gave a talk on the new
study book.
Miss Marian Harding sang a
solo and plans were made to
sell Christmas cards. A social
half hour was held at the close.

Auxiliary of Howick Legion
Branch held their Septeinber
meeting at the home of Mrs.
Earls,Underwood;. Mrsi, .Sorena
Austin read, the 'minutes of the
last meeting and Mrs. Mel Al-
lan gave the financial report.
Plans were -made to use birth-
day money by all the members
having a supper at a restaurant
on September 30th and a tour
of Wittich's bread plant at Ay-
ton or a card party at the Le-
gion room. The mystery prize
was donated by Mrs. George
Pittendreigh and won by Mrs.
Shirley Leeke. Mrs. Gladys
Thomson favoured with a num-
ber on the auto harp. Cards
were read from members who
were sick and the hostess, as-
sisted by Mrs. Ken Underwood,
served lunch. ,
