BY THE OW GUNNER This week news is rather scarce. There are a lot of rumors going ,around, but we cannot deal in rumors, only facts. There will be a training con- ference Thursday evening, 28 August. All Bty 'Commanders and Bty Sergeant Majors plus the Quartermaster Sergeant, Transport Officer Adjutant, etc.. will be there; There are two exercises scheduled. One is the annual Small Arms Classification to be held at Base Ipperwash on the 19, 20 and 21 of -September. The unit will also hold its guar terly pay parade at that time. The second exerc, ise is a 105 mm Howitzer -firing practice . to be held at the Meaford ranges in late October or early Novem- ber., The dates -are" yet to be confirmed by HQ,. Ontario Re- gion, Oakville and the Artillery Training Regiment HQ, CFB Borden. In order to do a firing practice we "must go through three different HQs and they all must agree. This week personnel have been trickling back from call Outs at Ipperwash. Sgt. B. B. MacLean reported back to -day and will be taking off shortly for a Computer Programmers' Course in London. Bdr. Fred Tilker of 97 Bty, who hails from Hanover, dropped in to ask if he could be posted to 45 Bty, 50th Field Artillery' Regiment RCA(M) at Lindsay. ' Fred will be attending Sir Stanford Flem- ing School of Forestry at Lind- say. No sweat, Fred, a quick letter has alread.y been forward- ed to all concerned asking for their authority and concurrence for this posting. Capt. Ed Anderson has re- turned from his trip to Western Canada and ,the USA. He had a slight accident out there. Ed was trying to make a left turn into a park, when he was struck from behind by an MG sports car which charged into the back of his trailer. The trailer hitch was somewhat the worse for this type of *action. The Andersons managed to have "same repaired and continued on. Lt. Col. Ritter took a trip to the Maritime provinces. He agrees with the editor of this paper, the Maritimes have their. own sign4eant. beauty. - We/ dt S .:'° nit - so `ill ;reprc, erd T' g..on to' higher education and are now in the process of getting registered' and seeking out suitable accom- modation.
