WHITECHURCH--On Sunday
Chalmers C.O. C. held their
meeting in the Sunday School
room during morning church
service. Cathy Purdon presided
and gave the call to worship.
Karen Wilson read the Scrip-
ture. Prayer was given by Bar-
ry Elliott. The C.O. C. hymn
was sung. In the absence of
Cecil De Boer, secretary, Mur-
ray Simpson read the minutes.
The roll call was answered by
11 members and two visitors. •
The offering was received by
Kendra Purdon and dedicated by
Bobbie .Ross.
The business consisted of
planning, the meeting for Wed-
nesday when the C.O. C. en-
tertain the W. M. S. A contest,
Kings of the Bible, was enjoy-
ed.

Free thinking, 'speaking
promoted at folk school

Twenty-five delegates rep-
resenting the counties of Grey,
Wellington, Huron, Perth, Wa-
terloo, and Bruce took part in
the 8th annual Regional Folk
School at Blue Mountain Lodge,
Collingwood. , Included were
three delegates from Cape Crok,
er Indian Reserve and one from
Rama Reserve.. The school is
sponsored annually by Rural
Learning Association with as-
sistance
from the Youth and
Recreation Branch of the De
partment of Education.
It was a free -thinking, free
speaking conference as the bar-
riers
of denominational differ-
ences fell away with the dele-
gates j o in i ng together in "
thoughtful consideration of the
purpose in life... They shared
openly and freely, without the
necessity of debate, their feel-
ings and ideas about themselves
and their reason for being.

ed out that the real purpose is
to provide new insights in help
ing individuals, (youth and
adults) to be more creative and
have more fun in working to-
gether in groups and' to learn
more about the process of a
special focus on new id e.at.'s ,
learning, the generation gap
and emphasized active partici-
pation of all delegates using
Wins Bible
in contest
WHITTCHURCH--Paul Laid-
law, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elroy
Laidlaw recently received a
beautiful Bible as one of ten
Canadians to win a Scripture
Union contest.
Presbyterian young pcoplc
who joined the church last year
received Keynotes from Scrip- .
tore Union. Included were
questions on Scripture for entry
into the "Contest , which Pa u 1
answered. Ile was one of ten
across Canada, selected by a
panel headed by the General
Director of Scripture Union,
Rev. A. 'C. Capon, to win a
bible.

role playing, films, video tape,
recreation and free time. The
secretary -treasurer, Mrs. Marj-
orie Slade of Kincardine, said
the discussion brought out hid-
den talents in .individuals. "Or-
dinary people really have the
answers to problems within
themselves, they only need the
opportunity to test . themselves".
Mark Douglas of Ontario
County, representing Rama Re-
serve, said the free -wheeling
discussions gave him a better
understanding of himself in re-
lations to the personal feelings
of others.

70 gathered. . Games and races
were enjoyed by the younger
members and the singing of old
time songs was entered into by
the older folks. The president,
Mrs. Elwood Barbour, was
elected for the 1970 reunion to
be held again at St. Helens.
