RECORDS WERE SET to be broken, and that is exactly
what happened Friday at Turnberry Public School. Ricky
Brighton placed first, in the standing broad jump with a
jump of 5 ft. 6 in., and two jumps of 5 ft. 4 in. Philip
Eadie, who originally set a record of 5 ft. 6 in. placed sec-
ond. Doug deBoer was the first to break the long stand-
ing record of 5 ft. 2 in. with his jump of 5 ft. 4 in. How-
ever he placed third in the competition. -A -T Photo.
The Observation Post
BY THE OLD GUNNER
This week we are happy to
announce the promotion of Lt. -
J. H. Cullen, 91 Bty Walker-'.
ton to Captain. He hails from
Chesley and is a dairy farmer
most of the time. He enrolled
. in 97 .Bty in 1964 as a Gunner.
He has worked very hard for his
promotion and. he has never
looked back.
Another promotion was made
in 97 Btu, i Walkertofi- this' week.
-Sgt. A. C.. Rouw has been pro-
moted to ' Warrant Officer which
proves that hard work and ded-
ieation pay off. Congratula-
tions.
At time of writing, the mo -
merit of truth is fast approach-
ing. With butterflies in the"
stomach the °unit is -on its way .
to CFA Petawawa for the RCAA
Bty competition followed by
Infantry Strike Coy Training.
The results will not be known
for some time. -However, there
will be stories and like fish
stories they grow with the tell-
ing. .;
 . Right now the Regimental
HQ is 'the nerve' centre where
the midnight oil is burning
brightly. (It always does). How-
ever, we exist because there
are people to service and a job
to be done by the whole team.
A battle was never won by'staff
work alone but they have been
lost by poor or no staff.. work.
We have some 30 people
going in 'different directions.
In fact,, they seem to be going
everywhere but up. (Who knows
in a few years .they. maybe ,ga i1)
ing in that -direction also).
We wonder j us t, how serious
the student summer unemploy-
ment is for so far we only have
20 candidates for the Summer •
GMT. Maybe they're not that
hard up -yet ! To any who may
be thinking of coming down, we
close off for the course July 2.
Why not help your Mom and..
Dad pay for your education?
Well, at last we have the
Regimental Standing Orders
completed. Thanks to the ,Ad-
vance -Times they are properly
covered and bound. The Listo-
wel Banner also had a hand in
this operation. Distribution to
the various headquarters has
been effected and the necessary
