Ricky Brighton placed first, in the standing broad jump with a jump of 5 ft. 6 in., and two jumps of 5 ft. 4 in. Philip Eadie, who originally set a record of 5 ft. 6 in. placed sec- ond. Doug deBoer was the first to break the long stand- ing record of 5 ft. 2 in. with his jump of 5 ft. 4 in. How- ever he placed third in the competition. -A -T Photo. The Observation Post BY THE OLD GUNNER This week we are happy to announce the promotion of Lt. - J. H. Cullen, 91 Bty Walker-'. ton to Captain. He hails from Chesley and is a dairy farmer most of the time. He enrolled . in 97 .Bty in 1964 as a Gunner. He has worked very hard for his promotion and. he has never looked back. The results will not be known for some time. -However, there will be stories and like fish stories they grow with the tell- ing. .; � . Right now the Regimental HQ is 'the nerve' centre where the midnight oil is burning brightly. (It always does). How- ever, we exist because there are people to service and a job to be done by the whole team. A battle was never won by'staff work alone but they have been lost by poor or no staff.. work. On Saturday the senior team played Ayton with a score of l4 -71n favor of Whitechurch.
