Bryan operates heavy equip» meat and Vana has secured a position as a payroll clerk in the mine office, driving about nine miles up the mountain each day to work. About six weeks ago she re- ceived her first surprise on the transition of seasons in the far north. When she went to work in the rooming the landscape was as it had been, brown and lifeless. When she returned from work in the evening the buds had broken out and trees and grass were green. They are now having such long per- iods of daylight that it is diffi- cult to realize when it is night; Their trailer is so hot they are unable to stay in it until about '10 p. m.
