A Walker family reunion was
held at Pt. Clark, at the cot-
tage of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Muf-
fitt of Ottawa. Twenty-four
were present including Mr. and
Mrs. Norm Muffin; John Muffitt
of Toronto; and ,Miss Marilyn
Field of Maple; Mr. and Mrs.
Ted Muffin, David and. Susan
of Ottawa; Dr. and Mn. Bruce
Fox of Guelph; and Mr. and Mrs.

old Beth of Burlington; Mr. and

1/4 cup instant minced" onion
1/4 teaspoon instant minced
garlic
1 tablespoon oliveror salad oil
1 can (11.b.) tomatoes, broken
up -
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
Mix minced onion and gar-
lic with 1/4 cup water; letstand
10 minutes to rehydrate. Heat
oil in small saucepan. Add
onion and garlic; saute for 5
minutes. Add remaining in-

1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
r° 2 teaspoons„ white vinegar
5 tablespoons chili powder •

der
111/4 teaspoons salt

Heat oil ina 'large skillet.
Add ,chickera end, brown well act
all sides. Transfer ,chicken to
5 -quart beaky saucepan or
Dutch oven, Meanwhile, CORM"

of the broth with remaining
ingredients; mix well. Drain
all but 2 tablespoons oil from
skillet. Add sauce mixture and
cook 5 minutes., stirring con-
stantly. Add remaining broth.
Pour sauce over chicken. Cover
and simmer 45 minutes. Re -
rnovecover and cook 15 minutes
longer, or until chicken is ten-
der. Thicken gravy with flour,
if desired., yield: 6 portions.

went to Clinton Creek last Ap-
ril, following their wedding.

position as a payroll clerk in
the mine office, driving about
nine miles up the mountain
each day to work.
About six weeks ago she re-
ceived her first surprise on the
transition of seasons in the far
north. When she went to work
in the rooming the landscape
was as it had been, brown and
lifeless. When she returned
from work in the evening the
buds had broken out and trees
and grass were green. They
are now having such long per-
iods of daylight that it is diffi-
cult to realize when it is night;
Their trailer is so hot they are
unable to stay in it until about
'10 p. m.

GQRRIE--The June meeting
of the Gerrie Women's Intsti-
cute was held at the home of
Mrs. Russell Adams with 12 -
members. present. Mrs. Alex
Graham, president, opened the
meeting -and roll call was an
item of historical interestabout
any Canadian city or town
which proved quite interesting.
Mrs. John Baylor ably corn- ,
mented on the motto, "Age is
not a matter of years, it is a
state of mind".
Mrs. ' Norman Wade, con-
vener of historical research,
gave a brief but interesting ac-
count of historical women. She
introduced Elmer Farrish, Ger-
rie, who showed colored slides.
of his recent trip to Africa and
gave an interesting commen-
tary. Mrs. Wade presented a
gift from the Institute.
The president asked f o r
three leaders and, assistants to
lead the 4-H sewing course in
the fall. A .bus trip in August
is under discussion.
Mrs. Jack Ferguson won the
Dutch auction. Lunch was serv-
ed by the hostess, Mrs. Morley
Johnson and Mrs. Glad Edgar

FIVE GENERATIONS of the Baker family
were present at a surprise reunion held
for Mrs. Annie Baker at the Royal T re-
cently. From the left, Mrs. Baker's grand-
daughter, Mrs. Robert (Norma) Mitchell,
her great-granddaughter, Mrs. Rick (Pen-
ny) Allan, Mrs. Baker holding her great -
great -granddaughter, Tanya Allah, and her:
son, Thomas Baker. Over 140 relatives
attended the gathering, coming from Port
Credit, Brampton, Grand Bend, Lucknow,
Stoney Creek, Collingwood, Oakville,
Toronto, London, Exeter, Hamilton, Van-
couver, Goderich, Clinton, Listowel, Dun-
das and Wingham.
