Belgrave anniversary and flower service
BELGRAV E- -The congrega-
tion of Knox United Church had
the pleasure of joining with the
Sunday School members in their"
annual Anniversary and Flower
Service on Sunday morning.
Roy Mundy, church organist,
presided for the service.
The entry and sanctuary of
the church were beautiful with
baskets of varied colored flow-
ers. Simulated window -boxes
were gay with a profusion of
miniature blossoms. The cen-
tral scene depicted "progress".
Mrs. Harold Anderson of
London, spoke of the progress in
Sunday School teaching and
study. She referred to former
cut and dried methods and ex-
pressed the opinion that modem
lessoris allow the child to ask
questions and receive the de-
sired answers which stimulate
interest.
The junior Sunday School
pupils, with their teachers, en-
tered the church in a. proces-
sion each wearing a corsage and
carrying a floral tribute which
was placed Hamid evergreens at
the altar rail.
The call to worship was giv-
. en by the superintendent, Mrs.
Leslie Bolt. Nancy Anderson
led in the responsive reading
and Brenda Johnston read the
Scripture. Rev. John G. Rob-
erts assisted in prayer.
Special music by the senior
members of the school, who
formed the choir, added great-
ly to the service.. Glen and
Marjorie Nixon sang a duet,
"A Little Child Like Me".
The large 'congregation pres-
ent was evidence of the con-
•
tinned interest in the Sunday
School. Much credit is. due to •
the teachers,officers and dec-
orating committee for a very
beautiful and inspiring service.
