church Mr. and Mrs. Marshall

Special music at the morn-
ing session was the choir anth-
em, "Faith Is the Victory" and
a duet, "I Fell on My Knees
and Cried Holy", by Mr. and
Mrs. Murray Gaunt.
The male chorus sang "Great-
er Grace Than Our Sins", and
the choir sang,. "Yesterday, To-
day, Forever". "Life's Rail-
way to Heaven" was sung as a
duet by' Irene De Boer and Jo-
anne Laidlaw. The male chorus
sang, "Ashamed of Jesus".
Members of the male chorus
were Paul Elliott, HarveyCraig,
Wesley Tiffin, Murray Gaunt,
Alex Craig. Lome Forster, Wali
lace Conn and Phillip Steer.
Mrs. Ed Bolander and Mr.,
Robin Bolander attended Tre-
castle Church on Sunday and
visited Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mel-

BELGRAVE--The May, meet-
ing »of the Belgrave branch of
Women's Institute was held in
the community, centre with 27
"members and visitors present.
Mrs. Walter. Scott, the agricul-
tural convener, used as her
motto, "If you want to grow
roses, you must have roses in.
your heart. " The roll call was
answered by naming a flower
and giving a tip on its care.
A panel was » composed of
Mrs. • Lawrence Vannan, who
spoke on are and culture of
roses; Mrs. Stewart Procter who
gave hints on growing fine ger-
aniums;
Mrs. Herson' Irwinwhb
gave tips on the care of gloxin-
ias and Mrs. Clarence Hanna
who shared her knowledge of
growing African violets. Mrs.
Walter Scott was moderator and
many questions were raised by
the audience and answered by
the panel. Mrs. Cliff Logan
interspersed the panel discus-
sion with poems entitled, "Li-
lacs" "What Is a Rose?" and
"Flowers".

delegates to the district annual

.BELGRAVE--The annual •
Mother and Daughter banquet of
the Belgrave C.G. I. T. was held
last Wednesday evening in the
United Church basement. The
tables were lovely with the tra-
ditional navy blue and white
trimmings, arrangements of
tulips and favors for the mothers.
The toast to the mothers was
given by Marlene Armstrong
and Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft re-
plied. Mrs. Peter Chandler
gave the toast to the C. G. I. T.
and the girls replied by singing
the C. G. I. T. hymn.. Evelyn
Bieman gave an accordion solo.

ing comparison between the
youth groups and young people
in Wales and in Canada. Mara.

Mrs. John Gnay presented
the two graduates, Mary Ellen
Taylor and Bonnie Cook with
gifts. On June 28 the C. G. I. T.
will be in charge of the candy w
table at the "Country Fair" in
the community centre.

the ladies pf the social com-
mittee of °'the Belgrave U. C. W.
for serving the meal.

Mrs. Glenn Johnston present-
ed thoughts on the motto; "The •
Peace of the World`Depends on
Food ". She spoke of the scarc-
ity of food in so many. coun -
tries and of the beauty of out
own countryside at this time of
year. .
The president of the East
Huron district, Mrs. Lyle Mur-
ray of Clifford, paid a visit and
in her ' talk she said a meeting
can only be 'effective when it
gets members and keeps them.
Try to keep programs up to date
and have as many as possible
take part at each meeting, she
said. Belonging to organiza-
tions helps women to live smart-
er . There are eleven branches
in the East Huron District. "The
world is our concern, " she said.

to attend their meeting on July
3rd. The Institute will again

for the annual memorial'serv-
ice at Brandon Cemetery on
July 6, witliKnox Presbyterian
Church in arge. The June
Meeting will be held on June
17, with, Rev. Craven, proba-
tion officer of Goderich as the
guest speaker.
