Homemaking club members demonstrate at meeting WHITECHURCH-The Moth- er's Day meeting of the Wo- men's Institute was held on Tuesday evening of last week with Mrs. V. Emerson in the chair. Mrs. Russel McGuire, secretary, read the minutes and correspondence which included a letter of thanks for a donation to the Cancer Society, and a letter from Miss Annie Kennedy and an invitation to St. Helens W.I. on May 14. It was de- cided to donate $3. 50 towards a beauty salon for Gateway Haven at Wiarton. Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Wallace Conn and Mrs. Ed Walker were named to the committee to be in charge of arrangements for a wedding on August 16. Mrs. T. Magoffin, Mrs. T. Jamie- son, Mrs. F. Tiffin and Mrs. R. Ross will look after the lunch in the evening. Material for the Red Shield drive was passed out and com- munity singing was enjoyed WHITSUNDAY - MAY 25th 11:09 a.m.-102nd ANNIVERSARY SERVICE. Rev. G. G. A geography match was con-,, ducted by Mrs.•Russel McGuire. Miss Linda Scholtz was the win" ner and received a prize. Cur- rent events were given by Mrs. Dave Gibb. Miss Nora VanCamp read Scripture and Mrs. Alex Nethery read a paper concerning the Ascension which had been written by Miss Stella Nethery. Mrs. Vannan welcomed the guests the roll call was an- swered by each person intro- ducing herself. Miss Marjorie Procter sang "The Holy City". Mrs. Vannan then introduced the speaker, Mrs. Wililam Craven of Goderich. Mrs. Crav- en gave a very interesting talk on "The Faceless Man". She stated that we are all guilty of grouping people into great gobs or humanity according to their colour, race, social standing, religion or occupation. In this way we fail to understand that each person is an individual, and if we are going to help each other we must look beyond the faceless man and discover his needs. If we are to show peo- ple that we are Christians we must treat our fellow humans with love and understanding. Mrs. Clare. David Ross received the offering and offer- tory prayer was given by Lori Purdon. The members handed in the used stamps they had col- lected. Mrs. Archie Purdon read the story for the Juniors from the book, "Open Door". The sen- iors heard a story from Pilgrims' Progress read by Mrs. Simpson. Questions on the parable of the sower were discussed. The members made plans for a walk in the woods, to be held on Friday of this week, at 4.30 p. m. Murray Gibb led in prayer and received the offering which was dedicat- ed by' Clare Weber. • Roll call was answered by three merpbers and one leader. • Attendahce was down because of the rainy weather. Th e minutes were read by Clare Weber and Mrs. Cl iff Laidlaw gave the story concern- ing religion in China.
