Brigade answers
two fire calls
The local firemen made a
fast run to the farm of Ear l
• Thompson, two miles north of
Wroxeter last Wednesday after-
noon.
A motorist passing the
Thompson farm noticed smoke
near a manure pile and quite
close to the barn. He alerted
'Mrs. Thompson at once and to-
gether they freed 20 cattle from
the barn. •Mr. Thompson was
at work in 'Kitchener.
The speedy arrival of the
fire brigade made it possible to
extinguish the b 1. a z e before
there was any major damage to
the building. The double doors
were charred. Fire Chief Dave
Crothers says that a few min=
uses more and the barn would
have been hopelessly ablaze.
On Saturday afternoon the
firemen were called tp t h e
home of Mr. and Mrs. Percy
Stainton on Leopold Street,
when the .rooms filled 'with
dense smoke.
Cause of the smoke turned
out to be trouble in an electric
motor on the. furnace. There
was no damage to the home or
contents.
