B&G Commission
is established
It has been brought to our
attention that we, the student
body of F. E. M.S.S. , have not
been taking advantage of the
privileges available to us.
The original purpose of the
Student council meetings, in
which the Council and class reps
were in attendance, was to have
the students convey their ideas
to the Council, with the guar-
antee that they would try to
remedy the situation in question
However, the reps were a ,bit
timid in voicing the ideas of
their classmates. The Council,
can't make decisions for• us un-
less they know what we wapS.,.
Thus, the B and G Commis-
sion has been set up. On this
committee the teachers, Mrs.
Tiffin, Mr. Stuckey Jr. and Mr.
Jones work co -.operatively with
the students, Glenn Rattan,
chairman;.:Betty 061V:ell, vice:
chairman; Neil Hemingway,
y Anne David$ andy Mac-
Donald and Diane Stanley
They will study the constitution
of the school and discuss freely
s&d openly any suggestions' for
ool improvement w h i ch.
might arise.
Glenn reported that the'
meetings will likely be every
Tuesday and Thursday during
the activity periods. The meet-
ings are open to anyone whohas
anything he or she would like
to bring up. Itis hoped that in
'this way, the Student Council
will be able to perform its'.
duty more effectively-- and
will be able to put our ideas
into action. But they canted()
that unless we put our ideas into
•words. So, how about it kids?
That's what the B & G Com-
mission is for!

Students collect $1164 for cancer
Last week -end a goodly num-
ber of energetic students devot-
ed a great deal of their spare
time in collecting for the Ca'-
nadian Cancer Society at the
request of Mayor DeWitt Miller.
The towns and rural areas of
Huron County served by .
F. E. M. S. S. were divided into
districts with captains appointed
for each area. Each captain
then chose a number of reliable
students to cover her territory.
Each o.f the canvassers was giv-
en a kit. • In total 176 kits were
handed out, and the reports as
of Tuesday night indicated that
with all but forty kits returned,
the students had made a haul of
some .$1764. This is almost up
to par with last year's collec-
tion of $2000.
The Students' .Council thanks
all students who took part in this
noble cause as we're Sure there.'.
will be a great many people
grateful to both the canvassers
and the donors.
