COUNTY HONOR WINNERS at the 4-H Achievement Day
received their awards from Miss Susan Heard, county
home economist, left. The winners were, front: Linda

Children from
fasbion show
FORDWICH--Night classes
at Howick Central School pre-
sented a -concert and fashion
show in the school auditorium
last week. The event was -well
attepded and after all expenses
are paid. there will be approxi-
mately $75.00 as. a donation to
Crippled Children.
Everyone connected with the
show felt the results were well
worth the effort.

esses for these events.
Mrs. Harold Babensee, Hur-

welcorned the officers at both
meetings. The leaders were

The consultation days were
well attended and much inspir-
•ation and concrete information
were received by the above
secretaries. Posters were lib-
erally used by the leaders to de-
velop their departments. - In the

group were seen posters with

the -newspapers and other publi-
cations. interesting and pertin-
ent skits on poverty and the
plight of the aged and a topic
on drug addictionwere present-
ed.
Christian and Missionary
Committees' duties were out-
lined. Here they are-- Be in-
forMed; 'Study the needs of the
community; discuss G. & M.
education with the 11. C. W. and'
other church departments; don't.

. provided for leaders; arrange
for baby-sitters for young moth-
ers and also provide nursery

Christian and Missionary Educa-
tion programs are presented for •
the whole congregation. •
The. Community Friendship
and. Visiting representatives dis-
cussed the duties •of the minis-
ter, the elders and the U. C. W.
1 members. "Who is your neigh-;)
1' point?" was -the question on one
poster. The value of blitz vis-
iting in apartment houses and
even in small. church communi-
ties was highly rated; Members
were advised to take children
with them_when they visited
'older people and rest homes as
they bring happiness to the shut-
in • members. Visits 'to mental
hospitals are appreciated es-
pecially if these sits include
car -rides and picnics.

closed with an interview with
Saint Peter--skit-wise, that is.

Several shower games were
played and ludch was served.
The bride -elect's aunts gave
a linen shower in Galt on Satur-
day afternoon at the home of
her grandmother, Mrs. L e e
Grove Sr. , and a miscellaneous
shower was held recently at the -
home of the grob'in's sister, Mrs.
Jim Campbell, Kitchener.

The Ladles' Auxiliary to the
Wingham and District Hospital
met Monday afternoon in the
council Chamber with Mrs. A.
H. McTavish presiding.
Members are being asked to
• attend a Hobby and Craft Show
sponsored by the Women's' Aux
diary to the Clinton Public Hos-
pital, to . be in Weslley-Willis ._

.Friday evening and Saturday af-
ternoon.. They are also being
Tasked to attend the Spring Con-
ference of Hospital Auxiliaries
to be held this coming Monday.

date for the spring rummage
sale which will be held in the

end with his mother, Mrs. Rae.
--Miss Nellie Doig of Miti-
nie Street fell at her borne on
Wednesday and broke her hip.
She was taken to the hospital

ston of London visited on Sun-
day with his mothe , Mrs. Em-
ily Elston -of Minnie Street, and
with •other relatives in this dis-•
trict and in Brussels. Mts. Skid-•
more and her friend, Mrs.

Mrs. Elston recently.

pitals there, spent the week-
end with his parents, Mr. and

been a patient in Wingliatn and
District Hospital for some
months was able to go to the
nursing home in Brussels 1 a s t
Thursday. Mrs. Charles Carter
was able to return to tier home
on Minnie Street from the hos-
pital ,last week. '

Wainfieet visited former friends
in Wingham last week and visit-
ed with Teeswater relatives on
