The winners were, front: Linda S15 for Crippled Children from fasbion show FORDWICH--Night classes at Howick Central School pre- sented a -concert and fashion show in the school auditorium last week. The event was -well attepded and after all expenses are paid. there will be approxi- mately $75.00 as. a donation to Crippled Children. W. , Stratford, were host- esses for these events. Mrs. Harold Babensee, Hur- on -Perth Presbyterial president, welcorned the officers at both meetings. The leaders were Mrs. Harry Almost, Citizen - x K ship and Social Action; Mrs. J. Axtman, Christian and Mission- , ary Education; Mrs. Bert Alton. Community Friendsfiip and Vis- iting. Mrs. Babensee and Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft also assisted. The consultation days were well attended and much inspir- •ation and concrete information were received by the above secretaries. The value of blitz vis- iting in apartment houses and even in small. church communi- ties was highly rated; Members were advised to take children with them_when they visited 'older people and rest homes as they bring happiness to the shut- in • members. The bride -elect's aunts gave a linen shower in Galt on Satur- day afternoon at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. L e e Grove Sr. , and a miscellaneous shower was held recently at the - home of the grob'in's sister, Mrs. Jim Campbell, Kitchener. Hospital Aux. _receives books for children The Ladles' Auxiliary to the Wingham and District Hospital met Monday afternoon in the council Chamber with Mrs. A. H. McTavish presiding. Members are being asked to • attend a Hobby and Craft Show sponsored by the Women's' Aux diary to the Clinton Public Hos- pital, to . be in Weslley-Willis ._ United Church In Clinton this .Friday evening and Saturday af- ternoon.. They are also being Tasked to attend the Spring Con- ference of Hospital Auxiliaries to be held this coming Monday. -at Hespeler where an interesting day has been promised. Saturday, May•24th, is the date for the spring rummage sale which will be held in the _ W inghamn Arena, The next meeting o f the Auxiliary will be held Monday • evening, June 23rd. • •tell, and .Mrs. Dave Burgess' and family of New Hampshire are spending a week's vacation with Mr. and Mrs.. Bill Hanula and visiting other friends -in this district. 1' --Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Pym of London are visiting this week with Mrs. Donald Rae and other friends. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rae of London spent the week end with his mother, Mrs. Rae. --Miss Nellie Doig of Miti- nie Street fell at her borne on Wednesday and broke her hip. She was taken to the hospital -_by ambulance. • --Mr. and Mrs. Edwin El- ston of London visited on Sun- day with his mothe , Mrs. Em- ily Elston -of Minnie Street, and with •other relatives in this dis-• trict and in Brussels. ' --Mr. Harold Walker of , Wainfieet visited former friends in Wingham last week and visit- ed with Teeswater relatives on Sunday.-✓ `--Mr. Sydney McClinchey and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mc- Clincheyof Auburn visited on Sunday with their sister, Mis. J. C. Robinson, :Diagonal Road. --The family of Mrs. Joseph Brophy -held a birthday party for her Sunday with dinner at • the -Hartley Houte, Walkerton. 'Attending the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred White, Mr, Jerry Brophy, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Brophy and Mr. and Mrs. -Desmond Brophy of Wingham, Mr. •and Mrs. John Walters and Mr. and Mrs. George King of Teeswater, and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Devereaux of Alliston. --John Philips of Eanshawe College spent the week -end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Philips.
