Board names arbitrators
The Huron- Perth Separate
School Board, meeting in St.
James' School, Seaforth, on
Monday evening of last week,
appointed a three-man board of
arbitrators to adjust assets and
liabilities of all co m b i n i n g
boards, including premises and
land.. Lou Rowland of Dublin,
Dan Devlin of Stratford and
Dennis Ducharme of Zurich
weie the me n named to the
board.
Approval was given for the
purchase of $600.00 worth of
equipment for the new addition
to Sacred Heart School, 'Wing -
ham. The purchase will include
• a table, chairs and a couch for
the teachers' room and chairs
for the gymnatorium.
A borrowing by-law for $400;
000 was approved. A by-law
for a•similar amount was passed
in January.
Arthur Haid of R. R. 1, Brit-
ton was named chairman of the
school bus committee. Other
members are Francis Hicknell

frey, R. R. 2, Zurich, Oscar

ry out the duties of attendance
officer. for Huron and P e r t h
counties. A su : esti had been
made that attendance be look-
ed after by the Perth County
Children's Aid Society. No ac-
tion was taken in this regard but
the board agreed to discuss the
matter again with John Vintar,
school superintendent, when he
arrives to take over his duties
this summer.
Montieth, Montieth and Co.,
Ltd. , of Stratford, will be en-
gaged to prepare and consoli-
date a financial statement of
all school areas up to Decem-
ber 31, 1968 and to prepare a
projected budget to cover the
1 board's operation this year.

Water Assoc. hears report
W HITECHURCH- -Twelve
people attended the spring meet
ing of the Whitechurch Water
Association Tuesday evening of
last week, held in the memor-
ial hall. Russel Chapman .pre-
sided.
Mrs. Victor Emerson read
the minutes and the financial
report by Elwood Groskorth
showed a balance of $1334.17.
Mr. Groskorth reported on
an interview with Fire Ch ie f
Dave Crothers of Wingham. The
truck carries 500allons of wa-
ter, 800 feet of 21 inch hose
and 800 feet of 11 inch hose.
The Wingham department serv-
ices all dwellings -south of High-
way 86.
Chief George Whitby report-
ed that the Lucknow truck car-
ries 650 gallons of water, 1200
feet of 2f inch hose and 1000
feet of 11 inch hose. The Luck -
now department.services dwell-
ings north of. Highway 86.
The fire department suggest-
ed that Whitechurch buy two
planks 12 feet long and 2 inches
thick for the protection of fire
hose when it must be laid across
the highway.
On April 12 at 1.30 p. m. ,
anyone who would like to know
what must be done at the Bump
house in case of fire will be
shown how to operate switches„
Mrs. Emerson read a report
received from Ontario -Water
Resources on the inspection
made by R. W. Cox on January
17. His recommendations were
that a program of flushing the
distribution system should be
carried out; and thatAa Water
Association ensure that the re-
quired number of bacterialogic-
al samples are being collected.
It was decided that if rust ap-
pears those on the end of the
system will open taps and flush
the lines.
Water bills for maintenance
will be sent ten days prior to
April 1 and October 1. They
will not be included with meet-
ing notices but will be sent
separately. Unpaid mainten-
ance by April 10 will be billed
a second time and if payment
is not received promptly the
directors will be notified and
collect the bill.
Therias will - cot free of
charge by volunteers. John
Jamieson is. donating paint and
Wesley Tiffin will do the paint-
ing.

ers on Highway 86 and Russel

their ballots on the matter.
