DONNYBROOK --The April
meeting of the United Church
Women was held Tuesday after-
noon at the home of Mrs. Wil-
liam Hardy with a good attend-
ance. Mrs. Murray Wilson had
charge and after opening the
rdeeting led in prayer.
Mrs. Charles Jefferson read
the meditation which had been
prepared by Mrs. Wilson. Mrs.
Tom Armstrong read the Scrip-
ture and led in prayer.
Mrs. john Hildebrand took
charge of the business and read
a poem, "Easter Miracle". Mrs.
Stuart Chamney read the min-
utes, financial report and had
roll call. Janice Robinson re-
s caved the offering.
Mrs. Wilson gave the topic
on China and made it very in-
teresting by asking questions and
having a discussion on them.
After singing "Creation's Lord,
We Give Thee Thanks" t h e
meeting closed with all repeat-
ing the benediction in unison.
A Chinese lunch was served
by the hostess, assisted by the
leaders of the meeting.
MEAT BALLS
BELGRAVE--The Meat Balls
held their eighth meeting on
Monday tight of last week in
the basement of the United
Church. Minutes were read by
Barbara Muilw yk. Roll call was
answered b 12 members. They
reviewed different cuts of meat

go to church". The 'answers
created a good deal of thought.

Mission Circle
Mrs. William Stapleton was
hostess to the Baptist Church
Mission Circle on Thursday.
Seventeen, ladies answered the
roll call with an Easter verse.
The Scripture lesson was taken
from Philippians 2: 3-14. -
A reading, "The Meaning of
the Cross", and a poem, "An
Easter Thought" were read. Mrs.
William Stevenson sang a solo,,
"Let Me Be Worthy".
A thank youletter was read
from the secretary of the Can-
cer Society for a box of gifts
received and a special contri-
bution from the Colopist Group.
Donations of scissors, pencils,
cards and rulers for the Pilgrims
would be appreciated.
A reading was given on Que-
bec and Mrs. Glen Scheifele
showed slides on the miss i o n
work there with the script being
read by Mrs. R. Kilpatrick. A
donation was set aside for the
French Mission Board to assist
with the work. ., '
A time of prayer was held
and several hymns were sung.
Mrs. Frank Collar closed the
meeting.
Business was conducted by
Mrs. Olive May, president,' and
plans are being made to purch-
ase .storm windows for the
church and to paint the sanctu-,
ary. The report of the dinner
catered to the Women's Insti-
tute was given. The mystery
gift was won by Mrs. Harold
Members made acid model-
led novelty Easter bonnets.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Mac,',

David.

ment of the church. Twelve
members. answered the roll call,
Mrs. James Coultes conduct-
ed the business. - Itias decided
to buy two coffee carafes and •
other kitchen supplies: Mrs.
Jack Higgins and Mrs. Robert
Grasby were appointed to buy
these supplies.
The May meeting is to be
held at the home of Mrs. Jake
Muilwyk with Mrs. Lloyd Free -
thy in charge of worship, Mrs.
Norman Cook, program and
Miss Annie Cook's group, the
lunch.
.The evening was spent quilt-
ing a large quilt and a crib quilt
after which Mrs. Norman Cool's
group . served lunch.

were read and +approved. Mrs.
Anderson announeed.,that an in-
vitation had been received to
Blyth April 13 and Brussels April
20 for Thankoffering meetings.
Belgrave U.C. W. is planning a
"County Fair" for the last Satur-
day in June.
Mrs. Anderson read an artic-
le from an Observer; "God is
Alive".

60th anniversary
is celebrated
,WHITECHURCH--On Satur-
day Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mac-
Kay and Bob Mowbray of Wing -
ham, Mrs. A. E. Purdon and
Mrs. Cecil Falconer were at
Guelph to celebrate with Mr.
and Mrs,. Dan MacKay their
60th wedding anniversary.
At the wedding dinner
Charlie MacKay of Dunnville
gave a toast to the celebrants
and Dan replied. .
After the dinner many' slides
of family gatherings held when
Rev. "Angus MacKay was home
on furlough from India were
shown.
Mrs.. Frank Caskanette is
new president for C.W.L.
"One Year in the Parish",
activities and spiritual functions
recorded by Rev. J. H. Mooney
through 250 colored slides, pro-
vided an interesting program ,
on Monday evening of last week
when the Catholic Women's ,
League met in the p a r i s h hall
of Sacred Heart Church. Fr.
Mooney has been taking these
pictures for several years. Fol-
lowing the church year, Advent,
Christmastide, Lent and the
Pentecost seasons, the sequence
showed the changes in nature.
All pictures were taken in the
'W Ingham area.
Mrs. Michael Willie ,presid-
ed for the annual meeting. The
league prayer to Our Lady of
Good Counsel was recited in
unison and reports were heard
from the secretary and treasurer,
A large sum of money was rais-
ed during the year for missions
in Peru.
Thirty-eight hospital visits
were made in the past month,
making a total of 388 during
the year.
A bale of used clothing will
be sent to Pirtle, Man. , in
May. Anyone who has anything
to donate in good, clean used
clothing•;may leave the parcels
