Meet Mr. Bakelaar

A new face in the shop area
this year is Mr. J. Bakelaar.
Born in Holland and edueatgd
there, except for teacher's
training which he received- ,in
London, Ontario, Mr. Bakelaar
heard minors about our school
and decided to teach. here tQ
see if they were true. Evident-
ly he has not been disappointe4.
This year Mr.. Bakelaar
teaches auto mechanics'to the
grades 9 and 10 of the 4 and 5
year Science, Technology and
Trades; and to the grade 11, ag-
riculture, as a related shop,
auto -servicing and small en-
gines to the grade 9, 2 - year
occupations.
Mr. Bakelaar finds„ the stu-
dents generally co-operative.
His main hobby is wood carv-
ing and his favourite sport is ,
hockey.
Mr. Bakelaar'$ aim of edu-
cation is to help students devel-
op'
skills and also become use-
ful citizens. This is his first
year of teaching and he hopes
to continue his teaching career
here.

Blood Clinic

nors. A clinic will be held at
the school on May 20th. Any-
one interested in giving blood
has been asked to take a form
of consent home for thea par -
grits to sign. These may be ob-

past the gym during the activ-
ity periods lately, you probably
noticed an energetic group of
badminton players/swinging the
rackets. These tryouts are the
