'The Ontario Government has
asked: the Ontario Securities
Commission to investigate the
increasing incidence of corpor-
ate mergers and takeovers and
the formation of conglomerates.
The Government apparently
wants to know what is going on •
in this area and what effect it is
having on the economy a n d
stock prices.
If stockholders' interests are
found to be in jeopardy the Gov-
ernment would consider tighter
takeover provisions.
