Country Capades presented at Belmore
BELMQR,E--Parents and inter
ested onlookers gathered in the
Belmore Arena on Friday even,-
ing of last week to see the Bel;'
more Figure Skating Club• per-
form in a show entitled "Coun-
try Capade-s". More than fifty
area children and young peo-
ple have spent the last few
months receiving figure skating
instruction from Miss Joanne
Dosman of Mildmay, and this
presentation was the climax of
those months of fun and hard
work.
Participating in an animal
act were beginners Leisa Gam-
iss, Paula Kieffer, Andy Ren-
wick, Alan Kieffer, and Larry
Fischer, each dressed as a dif-
ferent animal. Beginner girls
Georgette Kennedy, JoanDick-
son, Marilyn Ballagh, Gwen
Dickson, Joanne Kennedy and
, Caroline Mulvey were dressed
as tiny pink bunnies for their•
number.

Thegrandfinale brought all
skaters to the ice. During the
performance, Miss Dosman wat
,prOented with a corsage and a
/gift by two younger members
of her class.
Ross McKague was master of
ceremonies, for the evening and
;Mich ,credit should go to the in-
structor for her work, the chil-
dren who participated, the par-
ents who drove children to clas-
ses and rehearsals so this even-
ing could be a success, the
Mothers who worked on the cost-
umes, and anyone who helped
with arrangements for 'Country
Capades'.

Last Thursday evening was
the beginning of five exciting ,
weeks of play-offs for the Thurs-
. day Night Mixed League. Paul
Rintoul had a very nice 282 .
single which help ed put his

3338 points. Wayne BTO w n
captured the men's high triple
with 737. This was great bowl-
ing boys, but look what Gwen
MacLaurin did. Her single was
a fine 344 and her high triple
was 807, When asked what her
secret wat, Gwen said it helps
to set 'up pins and then you know
- exactly where to aim. :
