Fordwich Midgets take
trohy in two straight
Defeating Kurtzville 6 -2
Friday night in the Kurtzville
Arena, the Fordwich Midgets
were awarded the Tri -County
trophy, winning it in two straight
games, They took the firs t
game by a 9-5 count.
Eddy McMillan opened 'the
scoring Friday night for Ford -
watch in the first period with
two unassisted goals.
The victors scored another
twe in the second period. one .
by Murray Powell, assisted by
Bob Reid and Bob Gibson, and
the other one by Gibson, assist-
ed by'Reid and Powell.
Fordwich also opened scoring
.in the third period before Kurtz,
ville got on the scoreboard.
Counting for Fordwich was Reid,
assisted by Powell.
° Kurtzville then hit for two
quick goals, the first by Murray
McCracken, assisted by Daryl
Smith and the second by Don
Burnett, assisted by Ken Wil-
liams and Daryl Smith.
Pete MacEwen, assisted by
Rick Clarke, rounded out the
scoring for the winners.
Playing goal for Fordwich
was Don Reid and for Kurtzville,
Gerald Millar.
Jim Robinson was coach of
the new Tri -County champions
and Harry Winkel, the "manag-

of Belgrave teams
BELGRAVE--Last Monday
night Belgrave- Squirts: played
with Kurtzville in Belgrave -and
won 5-2. This was the first
-game of the best 2 out of 3
finals.
Stone School Intermediates
played their first game of play-
off. on Monday night in Belgrave
against Gorrie and won 11-4.
On 'Wednesday night Belgrave
PeeWees played against Ford-
wich in Belgrave and won 5-4.
This was an overtime game and
• the deciding\game.
Also Wednesday night in Bel-
more the Stone School Inter-
mediates played against Gorrie
and lost 10-4,
Friday night. in Belgrave the
Stone School Intermediates
played their third game with'
Gorrie and lost 8 to 6.
The same evening Belgrave
PeeWees played with" Kurtzville
in Kurtzville and lost 6 - 1.
This is the starting of the best -
2 out of 3 finals.
Saturday morning Belgrave
Squirts played Kurtzville and
won .3 to 2. This gave Bel -
grave the Tri -County Cup. The
game wps played in Kurtz.ville.

Juves extend unbeaten
record to semi-finals
The Wingham Juveniles who
this season remained unbeaten
in regular play, extended their
winning streak to take Acton In
three straight games, earning
the right to enter the O.M. H.
ti a:
semi-finals against Aylmer.
The fust game is scheduled
to be played in Aylmer on Fri
day night of this week at nine
o'clock.. The second game will.
be played in :the' Wingham Arena
on Sunday afternoon at 2.30. If
a third game is necessary .the
teams will have- a toss to see
where it will be played.
The winning tea m in this
series will advance to the All -
Ontario finals to meet with a
o.team from either Northern On-
tario or Eastern Ontario.
These kids play a very fast
and exciting brand of hockey
and are certainly deserving of
support from the hockey fans in

beat. Her high single for the -
evening was 2 88, and her triple
was 764. Hap Swatridge had a
good night ca..1 ring all honors
for the men. ` igh single was
294 and triple of 728.
The spares. for the evening
were Barbara Merkley, Donna
Sutcliffe, Gloria Thomas, Keith
McClure, Neil Edgar and Bill
Brown. Hope all regular play-
ers will be back to start play-
offs next week.

MEN'S LEAGUE
Standings remained unchang-
ed this week as the top three
teams each captured 417 points.
Penguins, Flyers and Kings were
the victors as no points were
taken by the Seals, Blues or
North Stars,
Standings to date are: Pen-
guins 113, Flyers 97, Kings $7,
Seals 76, Blues 67, and North
Stars 64.
Lome Archer bowled a nice
814 to take high triple and a
308 to capture high single. Bill
Brown was right behind with
302. Other good triples were
relied by Wayne Brown 762, Ian
MacLaurin 752, Bill Hotchkiss
709, and Ted English 705.
COMMERCIAL -LEAGUE.

Ladies' high single and trip-
le were won by Agnes Cameron
with 261 and 623. - Men's high

was, Agnes said it must have
been the spaghetti they had for
supper, but we wonder if it
could have been the sauce?

Vallance made up the rink.
