at Kindersley
Mrs. John' D'Arcy Gallagher,
85,died in Kindersley Union
Hospital at Kindersley, Sok..
on February 18, following a
lengthy illness. Mrs. Gallagher
was the former Eva Isabella
Nethery, daughter of the late
Mr.' and Mrs. John Nethery of
Morris Township where she was
born July 17, 1883.
She attended S.S. No. 5
Morris and on January 4, 1911
was, married to Mr. Gallagher
at the home of her parents. She
went to Saskatchewan with her
husband following their mar -
riage and farmed in the Kinder-
sley district until 1950 when
they retired to Kindersley.
Mr. Gallagher died on No-
vember 19, 1968.
Mrs. Gallagher was a mem-
ber of the Brethren in Christ
Church where service was held
Saturday, February 22. Rev .
Arthur Heise officiated. Burial
was in the family plot at Kin-
dersley.
Mrs. Gallagher is survived
by four sons, Alvin of,Kitchen-
er, Glen of Clive, Alta. James
of Galt and Terry of Carstairs.
Alta. ; two daughters, Mrs.
John (Margaret) Knox of Kin-
dersley and Mrs. Sidney (Dor- '-``
othy) McConnell of Netherhill,
Sask..; and 22 grandchildren
and two great-grandchildren.
There are. also three broth-
ers, Gilbert Nethery of ,Blyth,
Abner 'of Wingham and Herman

Ted Martin served
in Service Corps
Ted Martyr, a well-known
resident of S. R. ' 2, Wingham,
died at the Wingham and Dis-
tract Hospital on Sunday after
a long illness. As an employ
ee at the Stanley -Berry plant
and a memberof the Wingham
Branch 180, Royal Canadian
Legion, he had many'warm
friends in this community.
Born in Mayborough: Town-
ship, Wellington County, he
was a son of the late John Mar-
tyn and his wife, Edith Moore.
He received his education at
Listowel and after his marriage
on November 8, 1945 to Gert-
• rude Brooks, moved to Wing -
ham. 'He was employed here
as,a mechanic and within re-
cent years at the S t an Te y -
Berry company. He was an ad-
, herent of St. Andrew's Presby-
terian Church and was a former
.•member of the 99th Battery,
21st Regiment,pc
Mr, Martyn enlisted in the -7..„
Canadian Army in 1939,.serv-
ing as a lance corpirral in the
Royal Canadian Army Service
Corps, and seeing action in
France, Germany and Holland.
Survivingbesides his wife
are two sons, Randy and Brian,
both at home. There is one
brother, Harold Martyn of Lon-
don. Two sisters predeceased
him, Mrs. William (Ine2)4Satr%
uel, ' formerly of Listowel and'
Miss Thelma Martyn, formerly
of Clinton?
Rev. G'. L. Fish conducted
service at the R.A. Currie and
Son funeral home at 2 p. m. ,on •
Tuesday, with interment in
the Wingham Cemetery. The
pallbearers were Doug Aitchi-
son, Lloyd Elliott, Robert Bran-
don, George Brooks, marry
Montgomery and Oliver Glenn.
The floral tributes were borne
by nephews, Clifford Smith,
David McDougall, LarryBrooks
-and Harry Brooks.

Miss Sherriffwas
teacher 40 years
Miss Jennie Robena Sherriff
died at,the Wingham and Diss
tract Hospital on Tuesday of
last week in her 82nd year af-
ter a long illness.
Miss Sherriff, who was born
at St. Helens, was a daughter
of the late William Sherriff
and' his wife, die former Rebec•
ca Farrier. She was the last
surviving member of a family
of five daughters and , two sons.
She was educated at the -St.
Helens .Public School, Wingham
High School and the London
Normal School. She had taught
in elementary schools for forty
years prior to her retirement in
1960. Miss Sherriff was a mem-
ber of St. Andrew's Presbyter-
ian Church.
Service was conducted at
the R. A. Currie and Son funer-
al home on Friday at 2 p. m.
by her minister, Rev. Gordon
L. ' Fish, with interment in the
Wingham Cemetery. The pall-
bearers were W. Joseph T4ffln,
Russell Johnston, Peter Sherriff,
Wallace Wilson, George Marr
Wand Orland Leiden. The flow-
ers were carried by G. W. Tif-
fin and William Johnston. .

Grandson dies
in highway crash
William John Holcak, 27,
of Commissioners Road, London,
and a grandson of Mrs. Norman
Baker, Lower Wingham, died
in a two -car traffic accident
early Saturday morning. The
crash occurred on Highway 4,
north of trya at about. 4 a. m.
Theiecond victim was the
driver of the' other car, Clarence
Milford. Ayotte, 19, of Dash-
wood who was also killed.
Mr. Holcak was born in Lon-
don, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John
Holcak, who now r es id at
R. R, 7, Lucknow. Married to
the former Doreen Heslop of
London, he is also survived by
two sons, William 6 and Daryl
1. There are two brothers and
two sisters, Gordon of Ilderton,
John of London, Mrs. Alvin
(Doreen) Munn and Mrs. Peter
(Enid) Devine,. both 'of .London.
Funeral service was conduct, -
ed at the Needham Memorial
`Chapel in London at 1.30 Tues-
day with-interment•in Wood -•
land Cemetery.

N. , died at the Broadview
Nursing Home, Toront6 , on
Friday, February 28. She was
the former Bertha Akins, be-
loved wife of the late Henry
Young.
She was predeceased by Mrs.
. J. (Edna) McFaddin .of Strat-
ford; Mrs. H. (.Mary) Brown of
Grimsby; Harold, Toronto, and
Norman of Vancouver.
The body rested at the Gif-
fen-Mack Chapel with service
Sunday afternoon and -interment
in Gorrie Cemetery. •
