Will forward resolution
for Windsor convention
President Mrs. Michael Wil-
lie presided at the March meet-
ing of the Catholic Women's
League on Monday evening in
the parish hall. Prayer to Our
Lady of Good Counsel was re-
cited in unison.
Twenty-five hospital visits
were made during February.
Mrs. Jim Meyer and Mrs, Rea
Morrison are' visiting conveners
for the -month of March.
A rn"ember of the 'league
will. assist the hospital auxiliary
one afternoon a month, with
the selling of articles from the
lobby showcase.
A special St Patrick's card
party will be held in the parish
hall on March 18, with Mrs.
Ed Rich and Mrs. Alex. Skinn
convening.
A large box of used postage
stamps has been sent to the
Scarborough Foreign Missions
in Toronto. to be used for mis-
sion work;
All plans have been made
for the World Day of Prayer
which is to be at Sacred Heart
Church on Friday, March 7 at
3.00. p. m. Sister Frances
- Clare, B. A. , , of the Sisters of
• St. Joseph, London, will be
the guest speaker. The world
theme for this year's services,
is "Growing Together in Christ.
The league is forwarding a
resolution to the D i o c es an
Council for the 49th annual
-convention held in Windsor in
May. The resolution submit-
ted is that the minister of fi-
nance be requested to drop the
recently imposed increase in
the mailing cost of religious
publications and the -.mail soli-
citing donations for non-profit
charitable enterprises.
Everyone is urged to attend
the mission, of Renewal '69
from March 16-19 at Sacred
H t Church. Father Louis
iggiano, M. S. C. , New ork,
will be the guest speaker.
The nominating committee,
Mrs. Ed Rich and Mrs. Ed
Bauer, will present a new slate
of officers at the April meeting.
The monthly missipn draw,
donated by Mrs. Joe Redmond,
was won by Mrs. Doug Sidon.
The meeting was closed
with prayer, followed by a des-
sert luncheon.

Day of Prayer
The Gorrie-Wroxeter Girls'
Day of Prayer service was held ,.
in Gorrie United Church on Fri-
day evening, conducted by the
CanadiawGirls in Training with
the Explorers of Wroxeter and
Gorrie as their guests. Sharon
McMillan had charge of the .
worship, assisted by Linda Wat-
son and Lorne Ferguson.
A duet,. "He's Got the Whole
World in His Hands" was sung
by Joyce Hamilton, and Jean
Brown.
Debra Townsend and Mrs.
Norman Fairies gave a dialogue
onthe world theme, "Growing
Together in Christ". The serv-
ice was prepared by women of
seven African countries which
includes the African Spiritual,
"Kum Ba Ya".

About 60 ladies of East
Huron District gathered at. the
Howick Central School onThurs-
day night. Mrs.. Lyle Murray,
district president, chaired the
meeting.. • .
Mrs. Emerson Ferguson gave.
-a reading, "The Fatmers'
Plight". .
-The highlight of the meeting
was a talk -with slides by Mrs.
Stan Bride who was a delegate
last September to the A.C.W.W.
Conference at Lansing, Mich.
The ladies were reminded of
the workshop for secretary-treas-
niers, auditors and public rela-
tions officers at Bluevale on
March•llth at 1 o'clock.
Mrs.Alex Graham and Mrs.
William Strong, dressed in ap-
propriate costumes, sung a duet.
"I Don't Want to Play in Your
Yard". ' They were accompan-
ied by Mrs. Glad Edgar. on the
piano. "The Old Slate" was
thenrgiven by Mrs. Emerson Fer-
guson.
The ladies were divided Into
two groups and taken 'on a guid-
ed tour of the. school by Mrs.
Clare Harris and Mrs. Lyle Mur-
ray. A social hour was enjoyed
over a cup of tea.

Local teachers
attend conference
Almost 500 women teachers
of the Federation of Women
Teachers' Associations of On-
tario attended the Federation's
annual February Conference in
Toronto, February 14 to 16.
The theme this year was "Con-
cern", and delegates heard
scholars, journalists, sociolo-
gists, a psychiatrist, social
workers, and. other authorities
discuss a variety of current
social problems.
Attending from this area
were: Mrs.. Margaret Michie of
Blyth Public School and Mrs.
Evelyn Merrill of Blyth Public
School.
,Speakers included the con- ,
tioversial John Brown, whose
methods- of treating emotional-
ly disturbed children were hot-
ly debated. Dr. Herman Stein,
newly appointed Dean of the
School of Social Work, Colum-
bia University, New York, .
traced the development of chil-
dren's rights through history.
A panel composed of CBC
personality Warren Davis, writ-
ers June Caliwood and Dennis -
Braithwaite, University of To-
ronto official J. R. H. Morgan
and Rochdale College spokes-
man Rick Waern debated the
rights of individuals in a mass
society.
The delegates also heard.
