Widow testifies to value
of March of :Dimes Fund
Best wishes for the success
of the January campaign of the
March of Dimes has come from
an unexpected source --the
widow of a Clinton man who
died last January, Mrs. Harry
Kuiper.
In an unsolicited letter to ,
the March of Dimes campaign
chairman for her area; Mrs.
Kuiper said her husband was
struck by multiple sclerosis y..
about six years ago, -"only two
years after we were married. "
First he needed something to
help him walk, then a wheel-
chair, finally last January he
died of pneumonia.
"You will understand', " wrote
Mrs$. Kuiper, "that we needed
a great amount of equipment
in our home to keep my hus-
band from going to the hospital
permanently. And the March
of Dimes did everything they
could. I know Mrs. Margaret
Elliott from London, and Mrs,
„
Constance Cruickshank from
Kitchener well. They would
come to the house periodically
to see if there was some way
they could help. And help they
did!
"Let's give the March of
Dimes credit, because through
this organization they so much
lessened our burdens. l will
look forward to seeing a .March-
ing Mother on Monday evening,
January 27. Truly the money
collected is spent in a very
worthy way.
"May yourcampaign be a
great success, ' to help others as
we were helped. " •
Mrs. Kuiper congratulated
the chairman "for you are in-
deed
working ,for a very worthy
cause. " ,She later gave per-
mission to have the letter pub-
lished. It is quoted in the cur-
rent issue of the newsletter of
the Rehabilitation Foundation
for the Disabled, "Dimes on m
