The Eon Wawanosh Town -
$p Council held its inaugural
meting on. January 6th, in the
Belgrave Community Centre
With Reeve Roy Pattison pfe'sid-
g and council members,
Norman Coultes, Simon Halla-
han, James Walsh and Gerald
McDowell present. Each sign-
ed the declaration of office
and the oath of allegiance.
Rev. Roberts addressed the
council, reading a passage froth
the Bible and asked for divine
guidance during the year. Reeve
Pattison thanked. Rev. Roberts'
and thanked council for their
co-operation, in 1968 and asking
for continued co-operation in
1969.
Council accepted a petition
fronn the Huron County Federa-
tion of Agriculture requesting.
that the 1/3 grant contributed
by ARRA. funds be continued on
.those. drams that were petition -
ed, accepted by local munici-
palities and referred to and ac-
cepted by the engineer for ex-
amination and report prior to
January lst, 1969.
Memberships to• the Associ-
ation of Ontario Mayors and
Reeves, The Ontario Good
Roads Association and The On-
tario Association of Rural Mu-
nicipalities were ordered to be
paid and delegates attending
the Ontario Association of Rural
Municipalities and The Ontario
Good Roads Convention will be
paid $55.00 for a two day con-
vention plus registration. fees.
the salary of the reeve was
set at $350.00: councillors
salary set at $250.00 for the
year 1969. (No pay for special
meetings in 1969).
A by-law to authorize the
borrowing of $100 , 000.00 was
introduced, read and •passed.
The salary of Alex McBurn-
ey, treasurer, was raised to
$100. 00 per month, and his sal-
ary as welfare officer remains
at $10.00 per month.
