Clinton grabbed an early
lead as Shepherd fired a shot
from the wing which deflected
off one of the Wingharn de-,
fenceman's skates into the cor-
ner of the net. In, less than two
Minutes Wingham tied it up
when Fryfogle fired a shot wide
of the net which Ross Forster
piked up behind the goal and
in one twisting sweep tudked...

was debatable for it appeared -

SHORT SHOTS... . Both teams
seemed to pe suffering from

Sports; particularly in the sec-
ond period when he game up
with several sensational saves
...The defence came through
with good strong game which
was much needed, as forwards
• were not back checking... Nice
to see the defence throwing
those lead passes and using the
boards to full advantage... , ,
Barry Fryfogle seems to be hap-
py frith his gift from Santa a -a
new pair of skates.... Clinton's
Butch Murney reo"uired several
stitches when hit by,the puck
under. the 'eye, but returned to
watch the game from the stands

as Shewfelt watched from the
penalty box with Ross Forster
beating Begg with assists to Ir-
win and McTavish. At 15.05

Milverton's Noble scored at
13.06 when he deflected into

Wingham caught the Milverton
boys napping with Houston and '
Bain combining to throw a lead
pass. to. Elwood Irwin at the
centre line. Elwood swooped
in and deked the Milverton
goalie and slipped the puck non-
chalantly into the net. As one
unnamed player said ° in the
dressing room after the period,
"I haven't seen a goal scored
like that since the days of Man •

as though he was fixing into the
back of the net, but the puck
caught the back corner of the
goalie's pad and dropped into

The second period saw close
checking with everyone appear-
ing to takb a piece .of the op-
position„ The only goal was
scored' at II. 57 as Houston pick-
ed up a rebound from Ross Pea-
cock'$ shot and fired.a Jet pro -
pilled. slat shot into the net.

At 12.23 Milverton closed the

right in the face --it was a real
bullet. At 14.26 Ross Peacock

SHORT SHOTS... Nice to
see Milverton with such a good
fan turnout; there must have
been about 400 or more there
...Hats off to our defence
crew, although only three in
number, Jim Bain, Gord Cer-
son and Ken Henry, all played
a terrific game...And what
about`that "HIP -HIP" line of
Houston, Irwin and Peacock
being .elevated to the first_ line?
They surely were flying,count-
, ing far' or assisting on all six
goals... Would have':to say per-
haps the biggest difference,be-
tween"the two teams was in °
/net. ' Milverton'goalie Mike
. Mohr played one of his poorer
efforts, •whereas Gary Sutton in,
the Wingham net made some
brilliant saves,°_kicking them
out, picking them off -'-a real
superb effort... One of our °
players ran into one -of those
embarassing situations as he
sped over the Milverton blue -
line with full control of the,
puck, Just *as he was about to
shoot he heatcLa° tin -like tinkle•
at his feet and as he looked
down he was noticed to -blush '
just a -little when he 'hound he
ho longer had the puck but
there do his stick on the ice was
a very important piece of his
hockey equipment not usually
displayed to the .paying fans..
This was only ,Milverton 's sec-
ond lots and leaves •the Sports
with •7 wins, 4.�losses and 1 tie
