The .buffet lunch that was
rumored last week turned out
to be the real thing. Hot dogs,
cake, pop, coffee and ice
cream, served and prepared by
Mrs: Jean Elliott and Mrs. Ada
Aitchison. Thank you Jean
and Ada. We understand some
chaps can eat five hot dogs,
plus the rest of the goodies.
• Guess they are just growing
boys.
Lt. Gary Reed is horn from
UWO and will be assisting on
the Artilleryman course over
the holiday.

Some people did not turn out
for Pay Parade. Hard to be-
lieve,
e-lieve, but true. Sortie of the
`old timers like Willis Hall, Bill
Deneau and Eddie Ross. Our
guess is they don't need the
money or else they are chasing
the fairer sex.

ber home from university, Sgt.
Allan Leggatt. Allan is at?
tending 'university in Michigan.

Another long service mem-
ber of 99 Bty has left the field
after 21 years of service to the
Bty. Lance' Sgt. Don Montgom-
ery has turned in his spurs.

Pay Parade and Christmas Sup-
per, served by the officers of
100 Bty and the commanding

Bdr "Mike" Forsyth just
popped in,, Mike is attending
O. A. C. at the University of
Guelph. We ate endeavouring
to get Mike's documentation
cleaned up for commissipning
and are sure he will make a
good officer for 99 Bty.

WO "Bunker" bill Perry's'
foot is healing nicely and .the
Bunker has managed to sell his
trailer. He also has a 1966
Pontiac and a house in Harris -
ton to sell before going to Eur-
ope. He reports in the hospital,
'Friday, December 20, for a
check-up on the foot.

The Artilleryman course is
going into high gear and train-
ing on 21, 22, 23 and 28 Dec.
also on the 2, 4 and 5Jan. 69
is to be conducted. The tests
will be conducted on the 12th
of January, weather permitting.

Ward has asked The Advance -
Times to remind all those who
are interested in dancing lessons
for their children that the names
must be turned in promptly.
Arrangements are being made
to conduct lessons at the arena
in ballet, tap and highland
dancing. The Classes will open
early in January, but it is essen-
tial that the names of those in-
terested be listed at once, so
that plans maybe completed.
• Youngsters must be at least
four years old to,participate.
Mrs. Amie Johnston Specht;
who conducts classes in Kincard-
ine will be the teacher.
Christmas party
at nursing home
FORDWICB--YThe annual
Christmas party at the Village ;
Nursing Home was held for the
staff in the occupational therapy
room on December l,pth.. Pro-
gressive e6chre was enjoyed by
the staff members and their
husbands.
A Christmas turkey supper
was, served by the ladies of St.
Anne's Guild of Triniq Anglic-
an Church. There were 40 in
attendance. The evening was
highlighted by the exchange of
gifts by Santa himself.
A decorator clock was pre-
tented to David and Jean Dins-
more by the staff.
Lovely weather
in Florida
Bill and'Jean McCool are.,
enjoying pleasant temperatures
in Florida. Highest to date has
been 85 and it did drop briefly
to 53 but for the most part they
have been comfortable. ,Jean
has been bowling and Bill thinks
he will start about Christmas.
They have both been doing a
lot of walking, a mile or two
at a time. When they get back
vie will probably see them hik
ing out to Bluevale just for the
exercise.

a bakery here for 22 years, was honored Thursday morn-
ing. Members of the Business Association presented Mr.

capacity crowd in the audi-
torium of Turnberry Central
School. last Tuesday night.
Her part was to deliver
simple instructions to Santa,
reminding him that she
would prefer her candy in a
dish rather than a stocking.

Music recital
held in Brussels
BRUSSELS --Mrs. Edwin Mart-
in held a music recital and
Christmas party at her home for
her pupils. The gathering was
opened by Donelda Stiles who
played "God Save the Queen"
Christmas carols were sung and
Joan Stephenson and Dorene
Cardiff played for these,
Dianne Thomas played) a
selection on the flute. Gail
McWhirter played "0 Canada"
and all sang the new version.
The numbers were intersper-
sed with candy, popcorn balls,
etc. The lucky door number •
was won by Gail McWhirter.
Her group also was victorious in
winning the peanut Name con-
test.
All the pupils played a mem-
ory selection, a number with
music, and some technical work
All aritempts were used to show,
the process of advancement in
taking lessons. Some very ener-
getic pupils played everything
froth memory.
At intervals, draws were
made and each one received a
small gift from the teacher.
Others taking' part were Tom-
mie Miller, Lyle and Lynne
Bridge, Gwen Bernard, Michelle
and Lori McCutcheon, Cathy
Bone, Carol,' Colleen andKeith
Raymond, Mary Ellen Knight,
Anne Stratychuk, Connie Mc-
Whlrter, Beverly McCall and
Vonne McCutcheon. Absent
were Frances and Charles Exel
and Shirley Pipe,,
Lunch was saved at the close
by Mr. and Mrs. Martin.

December doings at E.W. Public School
BELGRAVE--The students
of the East Wawanosh Public
School have been busy at both
work and play, during the
month of December.
The boys from grade 7 and 8
played two soccer matches
against Brussels Public School.
The first game ,was tied at a
score of 2-2. Next game, Bel -
grave team defeated Brussels
2-Q. At these soccer matches
the new cheerleaders from the
grade 8 class performed. The
cheerleaders included, Marilyn
Robertson, Karen Galbraith,
Melanie Sprung, Evelyn hie
man, Nancy Ahderson, Louise •
Procter, Debbie Cook, Anna
Rasrnussan and Joyce Hunter.
They wore green pleated skirts
and white blouses, our school
colours.
During the first week of De-
cember, student teachers from
Stratford Teachers' College
were at the school. Miss Helen
MacDougall of Rodney, Miss

Jane Day of Wingham visited
grade 1 with Mrs. Isabel Hen-
ry. Practise teaching in Mrs.
Beth Lansing's grade three class
were Miss Nancy Anderson of
Auburn and Miss Janice Mc -
Cosh from Goderich.
The December assembly
was presented by Grade 5 and
their teacher, Mrs. Louise
Bosman. Murray Edgar acted
as Master of Ceremonies. The
operetta, Hansel and Gretel
Chance , to try
out new skates
There's good news for the
kids who receive skates this
Christmas. There will be no
waiting to try them out. Just
hike off to the arena in the af-
ternoon where there will be
public skating every afternoon
frorh two to four o'clock during
the holiday season.

skating for the school at Bel -
grave arena each Friday after-
noon. The senior grades first
skate January 11, and the jun-

Expected home
for Christmas
A personal note from the
Vaughan Douglases in Elora
tells us that Brian has received
his discharge from the United
States Marines. Verna and
Vaughan are looking forward
to having the whole family
with them for Christmas dinner.
