OCTOBER I9 SAFETY, MONTH. But, one month is
not enough to think about Safety. Workers across this
country are killed, disabled and injured during the other
eleven months of the year. A forgotten guard' on a
machine, a few drops of grease or oil on a floor, '°a "few
puffs" in a no -smoking area, a cluttered work bench, or
horseplay on the job i all it takes for a loss time 'acci-
dent to occur. Loss time from the job meansthe loss
tri
of a paycheck and unnecessary pain. Accidents don't
"just happen," they are caused ... And all too often an
innocent person is affected.
Think about Safety wherever you are. ON or OFF
the job, Safety should always be ON your mind. Our
traffic' fatalities are climbing at an alarming rate. Home
accidents are responsible for thousands of injuries annu-
ally. Huntingand boating accidents are claiming live
and injuring people each6year. And accidents will con-
tinue to ha .o
happen as long as we continue to neglect Safety
as a full time job. At work or at play, at home or away,
let Safety be ever gentle on your mind. Life is yours
to enjoy. Keep it that way, and enjoy it to the fullest
without accidents. Don't let an accident take you out
of( the picture of life,
