Two municipalities to
nominate November 18
At the regular meeting on

Public Scho41 Board discussed
w Qtwraty school board
regulations. The special study
eomuiittee for the county which
was established last March has
• armatinced that Monday, No-
vember 18 will be nomination
day,„ x which •time, candidates
will be nominated for the posts
On the county board of educa-
tion. The new board will ad-
' vi minister all schools within the
county area.
The town of Wingham and
the Township of East Wawanosh
Will elect one representative to,
speak for the two municipalities
when the new board is formed
at the first of next year.
-1n other business the Wing -
ham board ordered more tables
and extensions for the gymnas-
ium,. The tender of Stainton
Hardware was accepted for the
purchase of a refrigerator to be
placed in the kitchen adjacent
to the gymnasium. New play-
ground equipment for the jun-
iors will be placed in the area
of the grounds formed by the
three wings of the school and
facing on Frances Str.et. Seat-
ing for 160 will soon be install-
ed in the gymnasium gallery.
Ne'w and higher fencing h a s
been placed on the north side of
the playground.
Principal T. S. Beattie -said
° that total enrollment stands at
454. There are 55 youngsters
in kindergarten, two more than
last year, despite the fact that
the kindergarten, children from
Sacred Heart School are now at-
tending Turnberry Central.

Riley of Teeswater, was injured
last Friday when he ran out on-
to the road and was struck by a
car driven by August de Groot

water. The lad received a
fracture of his right lel;, facial
lacerations and abrasions. He
is reported to be in satisfactory
condition in the Wingham and
District Hospital.

graduates
The Guelph General Hospi-
tal School of Nursing graduation
exercises took place last
Wednesday in Memorial H a 11.
University of Guelph. Miss
Ruth A. Coultes, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Coultes
of R, R. 5 Wingham was a grad-
uate.of this class.
Following the ceremonies in
Guelph a reception was held at
the home of Ruth's parents.
Friends were present from Blen-
heim, iirampton, London, Lam-
beth, Stratford, Elmira, Fergus,
Whitechurch and Wingham,'
Other events included a Fa-
ther and Daughter banquet at
the Amber Cupula Restaurant
earlier. in the summer.
Last Thursday Mrs. Norman
Coultes and Mrs. Ken Coultes
were entertained by ituth at a
Mother and •Da ghter luncheon
at Parkview Motel in Guelph..
The class of 1968 concluded
their festivities with a gradua-
tion dance at Leisure Lodge,
Galt, on Friday night, which
was well attended.
Miss Marion Green, of near
Holyrood, a former student in
Wingham District High School,
was also a member of,this grad-
uating class. ,

the'new senior citizen's apart-
ments on Alfred Street, between
Centre and Shuter.

Details of the building plan
have been under study for
months. The town council or-
iginally asked that the building
be composed of one -bedroom
apartments, but the Ont a r i o
Housing Corporation evenn,tally

mit the use of this plan. Final
approval has been given to a
'plan for six one -bedroom apart'-
