heard at U.C.W. meeting
The members of the Christ-
ian Education Committee were
guests of the United Church
Women at a pot luck supper on
Tuesday evening in the Sunday
School room.
President, Mrs, Jack Gorrie
welcomed everyone and the
theme of the worship service
was "Christian Education Night",
with Mrs. A. Gibson and Mrs,
Elwood Irwin from Unit 4 in
charge of the devotional period.
Donald Rintoul and George
Jardine sang a duet. George
also sang two other numbers
accompanied by guitar.

wore floor -length gowns of
petal pink Chantilly lace with
short sleeves and Elizabethan
collars.. The scalloped edge of
late garnished with tiny buttons
gave .a coat -like effect. They
wore matching handmade head-
pieces.
Groomsman was John McTag-
gart of Schomberg and the;
ushers were Rae Hetherington of
Vancouver, Kenneth Porter of
Listowel, Gordon Jacques of.
Woodstock and Ian Hethering-
ton of West Germany.
The 'reception was held at
the home of the bride's parents.
Mrs. Hetherington wore a
beautiful -ensemble of dawn
pink pe,,au de,seie,rbtardexed,��
bands of��h'e` iii b�etl'depelt'irl
and sequins. Her hat of French
roses was shaded in tones of
pink to fuschia. The groom's
mother wore a party pink lace
dress with a hat to match and
bone accessories.
The couple will reside in
GuelphGuelph when they return from a
wedding triple •the British Isles:"
For travelling Mrs. MacDonald
wore a, jade green cape and
skirt with white accessories.
Mr. ' and Mrs. MacDonald •
both hold degrees -from the Un-
iversity of Toronto. He is a
graduate of the 'University of
Guelph with a Bachelor of Ag-
ricultural Science degree and
Mrs. MacDonald graduated
from the University of Western
Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts
degree.

of Shirley Irene Ellis and Denis
Langridge, both ,of Wingham.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Thomas Ellis and the :late
Mr.. Ellis and the groom is the -
son of Mr. and Mrs. F.H. Lang -
ridge.
Rev. 1-1, W. Hamilton per-
formed the ;ceremony. Mrs.
G. L. Davidson was organist.,
Frank Renwick of Teeswater
sang " Wedding Prayer" before
the ceremony and "'Because"
during the signing of the regist-
er.
The bride was given in mar-
riage by her cousin, W. A.
Hogg. She wore a gown styled
With Belgian lace bodice and
silk organza over taffeta skirt.
Her train fell from a large bow
at the shoulders and a band of
seed pearls held her shoulder -
length yell. She wore a pearl
necklace with matching ear-
rings.
Miss Ellen Draper of Brus-
sels, cousin,of the bride, was
maid of honor. She wore a sea
foam silk organza over taffeta
gown and the junior brides- •
maid, Dawna Lucas of Thed-
ford, also a cousin of the bride,
wore . a similar gown in yeIlow•.
The bride carried a white •
prayer book with red roses and
ivy and her attendants carried
nosegays of shasta daisies.

skirt. A petal headdress held,
her tiered veil of silk illusion.
She carred a cascading bou-
quet of Pink, Sweetheart roses,
stephanotis and white carna -
tions.
She was attended 'by her

orie as.bridesmaids. They wore
identical gowns of capri blue
chiffon, styled` with yoke and
short sleeves of crocheted lace
and chiffon flbwing loosely
from the back yoke. They wore

with face veils and carried
crescent bouquets of pink mums
and white carnations.,
Thomas Johnson of Downs-
view was best man and James
Griffith -and Fred Posthumus,.
brothers of the bride and groom
were ushers.
The reception was held in
the church hall. The bride's
mother wore a dusky rose silk
shantung dress with white acces-
sories and the groom's mother
chose a fitted rose brocade
dress with white accessories.
They wore white gardenia cor
sages.
The bride's travelling cost-
ume was a pale turquoise crepe
dress with white accessories,
and she had a pink carnation
corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Post -
humus. went on a trip to North-
ern Ontario and will live at 62
Courtland Street, Kitchener on
theft return.

ed with pink rose buds and
white candles, the bride's
table centred with the three-
storey wedding cake.

Marys, Brussels, Burlington,
Walton, Belgrave, TeesWater,

tended. They were received by
the bride's mother who wore a
capri blue sparkle crepe dress
with white accessories, and the
groorh's mother who chose a
honey beige silk linen dress
with beige accessories. Their
,corsages were pink roses.
For the wedding trip to
Northern .Ontario Mrs. Lang -
ridge wore a light blue dress
with matching lace coat, white
accessories and a corsage of
red roses and a white gardenia.
Mr. and Mrs. Langridge
will live in Wingham.
4-H entertains
at W1 meeting
BELGRAVE--Mrs. Cliff Pur -
don was convener for the home
economics meeting of the Wo-
men's Institute held in the com-
munity rooms on Tuesday even-
ing of last week, with a large
attendance.
Mrs. Ivan Wightman presid-
ed. Institute \members will
cater to Grade VIII graduation
banquet in the school on June
27. A memorial service will
be held in Brandon Cemetery
on July 7th at 3 p.m. with Knox
United Church in charge of ar-
rangements.
' Mrs. Stanley Black gave a
report of the district. annual
held at Benmiller. Roll call
was answered by naming fav-
ourite restaurant meals.
Mrs. Cliff Purdon took,.
charge of the meeting and in-
troduced the 4-11 girls. Connie
Neth.ry played anr. accord ion
solo, A skit, " A Bouquet- for
the Church" was Aesented by
Judy and Cathy' Chandler, Mar-
garet and Marilyn Robertson
and Brenda Johnston with Mar-
jory Procter as narrator. They
demonstrated the art of flower
arrangement. A reading was
given by Velma Fear and Joyce
Nethery played a' piano solo.
Mrs. Don Glousher of Blyth
demonstrated Japanese embroid-
ery.
The•prizes for bread making
were awarded as follows: ryes,
bread, Mrs. Lorne Jamieson,
a loaf pan donated by Ross An-
derson; oatmeal bread, Mrs.
Clarence Hanna, cash donation
by Cliff Purdon; white bread,
Mrs. Lloyd Freethy, flour don-
ated by Amos Smith; brown
bread, Mrs. Cliff Purdon, flour
donated by Ross McEwen.
Judges were Mrs. Robert Grasby
and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Cliff Purdon, Mrs. Clarence
Hanna, and Mrs. Jack Taylor.

strength, use prayer and rever-
ence?"
