Last week, you may recall, we had a short epistle regarding
the ';off the ice" conduct of .our bantam hockey team in particular
and all minor hockey in general. The one incident which prompt-
ed this came following a bantam game with Kincardine. We
were not going to say any more on the subject because discipline
by arena and team officials seems to have straightened our boys
out a, bit and they are now more like the youngsters we're proud to
support and cheer. But just to give -them an indication of the ,
reputation they have 'gained and will, have to work hard to destroy,
we print the following item from the Kincardine News:
a ,
WINGHAM POOR HOSTS
"Coach David Walsh took
his bantams to Wingham on
Friday evening, January 19 for
a scheduled league game. Al-
though Kincardine won the
game by the one -sided -score of
11-1 they came hofne pretty
disgusted with the senseless
nonsense of the Wingham Ban-
tam hockey players, as well as
several of their fans. It is.
just too bad that a Minor Hoc-
key team cannot gp to a neigh-
bouring town without being
• kicked, hit, spit .and :swore at,
such as our local boys got as
they left the Wingham arena
on Friday night. .Only because
Kincardine boys obeyed their
coach and went straight to
their cars, there was no further
trouble. Perhaps,if more par-
ents turned out to see what
their sons are doing it would
. help solve the problem."
We find the last sentence
of this. article,,very interesting
and cannot argue with the Kin-
cardine sports writer. As we
said, let's hope, we can look '.
for good hockey and no•mon-
key business from ourbantams
from now on.

Listowel squad was caught on

som talk about getting a

here n Wingham next year.
Could be, although talking
with Don Richardson, coach of
• the Listowel Juniors, it seems
,there are just not enough
youngsters who are both willing
and capable of playing that
brand of hockey....We under
stand the Kinsmen had a very
successful bonspiel here on Sun-

event in this week's A -T was
done by George Thomas, Kins-

face at the arena lately. He
was called upon -Friday night to
referee the bantam 'and .squirt

corner on .a. pass out from be-

The mild weather on the

that this writer can offer for
the below average scores bowl-

seems to put even the best
bowlers off balance. Ken Sax-
