Church last Sunday to say good-bye the Oestreicher
family. Rev. Oestreicher was presented with a
couple of Ti -Cat souvenirs, while Jonathon and
Jeffrey got hockey sticks and mom Marilyn got a
hockey touque in the after church ceremony. The
family also received a beautiful grandfather clock.

Hullett Township native dies
Percy John Gibbings
A Hullett Township
native, and lifetime area
resident, Percy John
Gibbings, died in Clinton
Public Hospital on
December 24. He was 77
years old.
Well known town
businessman dies.
William Norman Counter
A well-known Clinton
businessman and long-
time member of the
Clinton community,
William Norman
Counter, died in Clinton
hospital on December 21.
He was 76 years old.
Mr. Counter was born
on June 17, 1904 to Willian
and Louise Counter in
Seaforth, He attended
school in Clinton and in.
1938 was married° to the
former Madeline Van
Horne.
The couple continued to
.make their home in
Clinton were Mr. Counter
operated ` a jewelry
business for 32 years. He
was also in charge of the
Humane Society for the
Clinton area, was a
member ';'of the Credit'
Committee of the Credit -
Union and served on the
board of management
from St. Paul's Anglican
Church in Clinton. Mr.
Counter was also a
member of the Odd -
fellows Lodge 83 in
Clinton for 52 years.
Victoria Anne Linton
Victoria Anne, the
'infant daughter of Bruce
and Nancy Linton of 31
Regina St., Vanastra died
on • Wednesday,
December 7. She was 4
.months old. o•
She was the dear sister
of Scott, Rosemary and
Robbin and the grand-
daughter to Mr. and Mrs.
-Walter Linton* of Stirond
and Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Dean of Drayton.
Funeral services were
held from the Beattie
Funeral Home in Clinton
on Decembe=r 20, with
Peter Mantel of the
Vanastra Christian
Church officiating.
Interment followed in the
Clinton Cemetery.

by his wife and two
children Mrs. Kenneth
(Calista.) McNairn of RR
1, Clinton and George of
London. He is also sur-
vived by four grand-
children and was
predeceased by his
parents and a brother
Morley.
The Beattie Funeral
Home arranged the
funeral service which
was held at St. Paul's
Church on. December 23.
Rev. Robert Crocker
officiated at the service
and interment followed at
the Clinton Cemetery.
The pallbearers were
William Nediger, Ronald
Van Horne, William
Counter, Douglas Bundy,
Gerald Flynn' and David
Counter.
Gibbings was,born
in Hullett to John' and
Mary Gibbings and at-
tended S.S. No. 5 Hullett.
He wasmarried on
November 3, 1926 toVera
Shobbrook and the couple
continued to live in
Londesboro were M.
Gibbings farmed. Later
they rrioved to Clinton
and resided at 61 East
Street.
Mr. Gibbings was a
member of the Ontario
Street United Church in
Clinton and served as an
honorary elder there.
Along with his wife, he
is survived by three
children, William of RR
1, Clinton: Mrs• John
(Dors) Andrews of RR 1,
Ailsa \Craig and Robert of
RR 1, Clinton. He is
survived by 11 grand-
children, three great
grandchildren, one sister
Evelyn Tasker of
Stratford and a brother
Warren of Clinton.
Mr. Gibbings was
predeceased by his.,
parents and one sister
Flossie Tasker. •
Funeral services were
held on December 28 at
Ball's Funeral Home in
Clinton. Rev. Norman
Pick, assisted by ' Rev.
Donald Snell of . Kit-
chener, led in the service
and interment followed at
the CIinton Cemetery.
Vanastra School pupils visit Huronview
We had a very special
treat Thursday. morning,
December 18- when the
nursery school at
Vanastra cameto visit
the ladies on ground floor
north. The childzren sang
several Christmas
selections and passed out
soxne cookies that they
had made, We hope that
they will 'visit, again soon,
Thursday afternoon,
the annual . Christmas
party for the residents
was held in the
auditorium. Axigus
MacLennan, the prin-
cipal
r n-cipal from the Hullett
Central School brought
his grade .„lir, seven,' and,
eight pupils to sing and
play for us. These pupils
were under the direction
of Mrs. Susan Supeene.

Clinton lady dies
Jenny Mary Wise
At the age of 91, Jenny
Mary Wise died in Clinton

December 24.
A lifetime resident and
native of the area, Mrs.
Wise was born at Trick's
Mill in Goderich Town-
ship on June 26, 1889 to
Levy Trick and the
former Frances Jenkins.
She lived with her family
on the 16th concession of
Goderich Township and
attended S.S. No. 11
school.
On August 29, 1914 she
married William Wise
and the couple made their
home on the 11th con-
cession of Goderich
Township. Mrs. Wise was
active in the community
and was a member of St.
Jari'res Anglican Church
in Middleton, belonged to
St. Paul's Anglican Guild
in Clinton and served
with ,the Mary Hastings
Women's Institute.
Mrs. Wise. was
predeceased by her
husband and is survived
by four children Mrs.
Alfred (Evelyn) Hudie of
Clinton, Mrs. Robert
(Muriel) Glen of RR 3,
Clinton, Mrs. Lorne
(Harriet) Tyndall of
Clinton and George of RR
1, Severn Bridge.
She is• also survived by
a sister Mrs. Fred (Vera)
Lawrence of Goderich, as
well as 11 grandchildren
and 11 great grand-
