A.'nine of Peace, Joy and L' ove
o me Christmas Means a time,of the *year which
everyone celebrates and it is a time of peace, joy and
love. Christmas is a Christian Holy .Day and it means
sharing Jesus' birthday with our fairnily and friends,
Christmas is, usually a joyous time when the family
Pins together to exchange gifts and also a joyous
attitude. Every year the week before Christmas there
is" always the thrill of the festive food, fancy
decorations, cheerful music and receiving 'gifts and.
giving them. Because of the Christmas spirit our
attitudes toward others change,
All of the secrecy, mystery, suspense and ex-
pectations of giving gifts and receiving them is the
very best part of the Christmas season. Whether some
call it Xmas it all brings out the same joy in everyone.
When you go to church or go shopping it is fun because
you are sharing Christmaswith everyone else around
you. Parents can see the happiness in their children's
eyes and, in the way that they act around this time of
Christmas is a once a year occasion, but the joy and
peace ofit lasts ' the whole year through. It is
celebrated by everyone and -brings the peace, love and
joy back into everyone's hearts.
-by Barbie Brand, St. Joseph's Separate.
Christmas
Christmas is the time of year,
That brings you happiness and lots of cheer,
When Santa comes down your chimney,
It fills your heart with happiness.
-by Cathy Herbert, Grade 6, Huron Centennial.
Dear Santa,
Santa can you please
come back for Christmas
day, but in the night you
can give me anything you
want, but please give me
colorful candy; I do not
think people are very nice
when they are rude and
mean on Cristmas becuse
it is Jesus birthday.

Santa Claus
makes things right
Santa Calus, so joyful and jolly,
Kissed his wife under the holly.
All of the reindeer came and said,
"We have to go so here's your sled!"
Santa said all right and rode into the night,
While the youngest reindeer took quite a fright.
Santa -landed -the sled -and asked; --- .__
"What is wrong?"
The biggest reindeer, so sm• art and strong,
Answered, "He's scared of the noises that he hears in
the night."
Santa just laughed and jiggled his belly,
Which squiggles and jiggled and wiggled like jelly.
Santa said it's a fright to hear strange sounds in the
night,
But don't get so uptight,
I'm sure it's all right.
Santa took off in his sled,
As•he merrily said.
All good little children tomorrow,
Will not be filled with much sorrow,
For tomorrow is Christmas day.
-by Amy Bonthron, Grade 6, Huron Centennial.

Things I Like Beet
At Christmas
Things I like best at Christmas. are,
Putting up decorations,
Decorating the tree,
Opening presents that are for me.
Other things are,
Seeing my relatives,
Eating Christmas dinner,
No one can say I'm getting thinner.
I like to eat cookies,
And play in the snow,
What will happen next Christmas,
I don't know.
-by Greg Falconer, Grade 5,
Clinton Public School.
Christmas time
C - is for cookies, all different shapes.
H - is for hymns, so glad, so gay.
R - is for receiving all different cards.
I =fsoric7iclstlarathang outs'id:_—
S - is for snow, so white, so fine.
T - is for our Christmas tree inside our house.
M - is for being merry on Christmas day.
A - is for a toy we receive every day.
S - is for snowmen sitting in the snow.
And that's my Christmas Day.
-by Janice Cameron, Grade 5, CPS.
Time to decorate
Tired of your old
Christmas t,r,,ee
decorations? It's easy to
make your own new ones.
For papier mache
animals, all you need are
old newspaper and
wallpaper paste. Spread
layers of paper on your
work area. Rip the rest
into strips, soak them in
paste mixed with water
and squeeze out excess'
moisture as you work.
Mold any figures you
desire, insert strings for
hanging and dry on
waxed paper for a day' or
two. Cover them with a
protective acrylic base
coat before painting so
the colors will stay
bright.
If you prefer to work
with yarn, use leftovers
from • other projects to
make colorful "Mexican
god's eyes." You'll also
need two straight sticks
such as dowels about 10 to
15 centimetres (4 to 6
inches) long-. Cross the
centres of the sticks at
right angles and attach
yarn diagonally across
the intersection to secure
them, Begin winding the
yarn in a circular pattern
around the centre. Pass it
over each stick first, then
circle under and around -it
before continuing to the
next one.
Every few rounds, tie
off the yarn and attach a
different color. When the
cross is covered, attach a
'loop at one extremity for
hanging.
For glittering
snowflakes that will sway
on the tree, cut two or
more circles of aluminum
foil. Hold them together,
with the shinier surface
facing out. Fold them into
four or eight equal parts
and cut away a variety of
shapes to give a lacy
effect, Open your pattern,
glue the layers together
near the edges, for
strength, and attach
thread for hanging.
If you prefer to use
your old Christmas tree
balls, you can give thema
new look by glueing
ribbons, lace, small
buttons and other
lotions.
s thoughts
Christmas
Christmas day is coming,
I can see it on every face,
I can't Wait it's coming,
I wish that it could race,
I have been bad,
I have been good,
I have been like children should.
It'sathe day that Christ was born,
Upon this very morn,
Jesus Christ he is so nice,
I think I will blow my horn.
