opened the meeting with
the Ode, The Mary

Canada with Mrs.
Catherine Jackson at the
piano.
After a welcome to
visitors and members,
Mrs. Bradnock read the
poem, The Night Before
Christmas.

was decided send $25 to
the Childre 's War
Memorial Ho ital,
London and also buy
two serving wagons . r

Haines and Mrs. Bob

committee to buy them.
Mrs. Rick Hawley
reported for the crewel
embroidery course and
stated that the next
meetthg will be held on
January 13 at 10 a.M. It
was decided to again
sponsor Auburn 1 and
Auburn 2 for their spring
project. The leaders will
be Mrs. George Collins
and assistant Mrs. Doug
Chamney.
The convener of the
card committee, Mrs.
Lillian Letherland gage_
her report and it was
noted that she sent many
Christmas cards and
made visits.
Thank -you notes were
read from Mrs. Tom
Johnston, Mrs. Wilfred
Plunkett and Wilfred
Sanderson. Mrs. Bob
Peck gave a report of
London Area convention
held at St. Marys in
October.

program for the meeting.
Mrs. Hawley - presided
and opened with a
reading,. Christmas on a
Farm. A piano solo of
Christmas songs was
played by Mrs. Kenneth
McDougall. A solo, Dear
Little Stranger, was sung
by Mrs. Eleanor Brad -
nock, accompanied by
Mrs. Emerson Rodger.
Mrs. Hawley in-
troduced the guest
speaker', • Mr. Rick
Hawley, minister of Knox
United Church, Auburn.
He gave an inspiring
Christmas message
stating that the joy of
Christmas is the joy • of
children. He recalled the
miracle of Christmas and,
earlier days when he
opened gifts on Christ-
mas day. He urged all to
keep Christmas the whole
year rounan
remember that God is
love. 'Before it is too late,
he asked all to listen to
their children, tell them
they love them and
therefore peace and
brotherhood on earth will
.keep Christmas all year
through.
Mrs. Donald Haines
thanked Mr. Hawley and
presented him with a gift.
A Christmas lunch was
. served by Mrs. Trim

tea tables were
attractively decorated
with small Christmas
arrangements. Prizes
were won by Mrs.

saucer, Mrs. Major

of Mrs. Frances Clark.
The president, Mrs.

charge and opened with

cantata presented on
Christmas Sunday at
Knox United Church last

Hawley, B.A. minister in
charge. Mrs. Norman

organ.
The processional hymn

Lillian Letherland. She
chose for her scripture„
lesson, St. Luke 2; 1-14
verses. The meditation
was based on the theme,
Going to Bethlehem,
followed by prayer, The
roll call was answered by
a Bible verse containing
the word - Christ. Several
Christmas carols were
read, closing with the
carol, 0 Come all ye
Faithful.
The study was on the
theme What to Give for
Christmas and this was
taken by Mrs. Frank
Raithby. A reading, Twas
the Night Before
Christmas, was given by
Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock.
Mrs. Sanderson
presided for the business
period. The minutes of
the November meeting
were accepted as read by
the secretary, Mrs.
Lillian Letherland. It was
announced that the an-

met last Wednesday-

hostess presided for the
meeting which opened
with, the hymn, I Love to
Hear the ,Story. The
scripture lesson on the
Birth of the Saviour, was
read by Mrs. Lillian
Letherland. Mrs. Haggitt
gave the meditation
followed by prayer. A
reading The Message of
Christmas, was read by
Mrs. Tom Lawlor. The
topic, Who is my Neigh-
bour?, was given by Mrs.
Tom Pap.eitt. What is a
Grandma, was also given
for a reading.
The president, Mrs.
Donald Cartwright took
charge of the business.
The financial statement
was given by the
treasurer, Mrs. Tom
Haggitt. Correspondence
was read and the roll call
was answered by a
favourite Christmas
verse. The offering and
the travelling apron were
passed around and the
meeting was closed with
prayer.
Lunch was served by
Mrs. Haggitt and a social
half hour enjoyed.

Memorial ball. About 100
children attended. .

Christmas song and Mr.

greetings and spoke a few

accompanied by their
mother Mrs. Hawley.

Andrews and Mrs.
Gordon Gross presented
the play with narrator
being Janice Daer. Lori,
Steven and Regan Millian
presented two numbers
and the Junior class with
their teachers, - Mrs.
Peter Verbeek and Mrs.
Jim Schneider also
presented aplay.
The Intermediate class
with teachers Mrs. Allan
Webster and Miss Brenda
Ball `resented they play
and Mr. Hawley led in a
sing-songNwhile all were
waiting for'Santa Claus.
Finally he came and gave
gifts to all the 6hildren.
