The combination historic and recreational uses of the home mean the project is "unique" in the province, Susan saki. The Van Egmond Foundation is staffing the home with the assistance of a Community Development Program grant from the federal government until next fall. Right now, there are lots of fresh Ontario Carrots on the produce counters say the marketing specialists at the batario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Ontario's carrots have now all been harvested and are presently being kept in cold storage. Cold storage facilities enable the carrots to be stored throughout the winter months so they'll be available on the retail counters well into spring. To help preserve the carrotsfreshness once they leave the cold ,storage areas, a couple of things are done. For one thing, the tops of the carrots are removed. This helps to preserve the carrots' crispness by keeping the moisture in the carrot and preventing it from being drawn out to the leaves.
