four monologues; each
telling the Christmas

close the devotional each
participant lit a candle to
complete the worship.
The meeting was
chaired by Mrs. Peggy
Ferguson who opened.
with a poem. The
business was conducted
by Mrs. Joyce Pepper,
unit leader, who gave all
an invitation to attend the
open house at Queensway
Nursing Home on
December 15. Unit II will
supply the flowers in the
church in January.
Hensall United Church
Annual meeting will be
held on January 21
beginning with a pot luck
supper:
The UCW study book is
Partners in the Gospel
and copies are available
for _each unit. -The
Presbyterial annual
meeting is to be held at
the Brucefjield United
Church on January . 26
with registration at 9:30
a.m..
At the close of the
meeting Mrs. Ferguson
read another poem and
gave courtesy remarks.
Lunch was served by
Mrs. Grace Drummond
and Mrs. Diane Ger-
stenhorn.
Women's Institute
The Christmas meeting
of the Hensall Women's
Institute was 'held ''lasfi `''
Wednesday with 16
members and one visitor
present.
Carols were sung and
Christmas in Holland,
Scotland and England
were described by Mrs.
Rita Van Wieren, Mrs.
Winnie Skea and Mrs.
Hilda Payne. A humorous
skit was read by Mrs.
Joyce' 'Pepper and Mrs.
Payne and Mrs. Pepper
played a- medley of
Christmas tunes on the
piano and also ac-
companied for the carol
singing.
It was decided to send
for 25 London Area song
books and Mrs. Pearl
Koehler and Mrs. Leona
Parke were appointed
visiting committee until
the January meeting. A
donation to the church
was also voted for.
Bursary - money of 75
cents per member will
also be collected in
January.
One assistant 4-H
leader is needed so please
call 262-5018 if you're
willing -to help.: This-will-
bea sewing project.
After closing , the
meeting, hostesses Mrs.
Eileen Ranni'e and Mrs.
Winnie -~Skea served a
delicious lunch. The next
meeting will be held on
January 14.

membership of the

service and spoke to the

session.
Mr, Ron Fleming was
guest soloist and ac-•
companied1himself on the
guitar. Mrs. Robert
presided at the organ and
led the choir in their
special songs. The large
attendance participated
in Holy Communion and
the class who joined
consisted of: Janet, Paul
and Greg Hoggarth;
Murray and Donna
Taylor; Jane Pollock;
Kathy Troyer; Brian and
Barbara McGregor;
David, Carol and Terry
McGregor.
A ,special service
combining the talentsof
the Church School._
children and the Youth
Group will be held on
December 21. A joint
candlelight service for
the three congregations is
planned for Sunday night,
December 21, at 7:30 p.m.
at Carmel Church in
Hensall.
Hold Christmas party
The staff of W. G.
Thompson's Ltd,. were
entertained to a delicious
meal at the Hensall
Community Centre on
Saturday evening which
was well attended.
Following the meal,
dancing was enjoyed .to
music of Whiskey Jack's
band.

The Three Links Senior
Citizens held their
Christmas party on
December 9 which began
with a delicious hot
turkey supper.
President Mrs. Ruby

meeting. Correspondence
was read, and roll call
and the treasurer's
report were given by
Mrs. Dorothy Brintnell.

given by Mrs. Elizabeth
Riley and Mr. and Mrs.

WI will host the seniors
on January 21.

was made on a lace doilie

depicting the wise—men
bringing gifts tto the
manger of Bethlehem,
presented each child with
ared carnation.

the service was Miss
Elizabeth Schwarz of
Waterloo. Miss Schwarz

congregation were richly
blessed through the
tremendous talents of
this young woman. She
presented flute, guitar as
well as vocal solos
throughout the service.
She was accompanied by

congregation were
reminded that next
Sunday would be a family
Christmas service with
no Sunday Schoolnd a
special Christmas Eve

Eve at which time
communion would also be
served.
The flowers at the front
of the church were placed`
in honor -of the marriage
of Mr. and Mrs. James
Nixon which took place in
the church on Saturday,
and the Christmas candle
in the Advent Wreath was
lit by Robert Gackstetter,
representing the primary
children of the
congregation.
