Fighting, Back, a
poignant real-life story of
four .children fighting a
battle , against the
dreaded killer disease
leukemia, has, won an
international EMMy
award in NewYor k.
The film, made for the
Canadian Broadcasting
Corporation by film-
maker Tohn Kastner
aired last 'January .and.
told the story of four
young people and their
fight against the cruel•
disease, 'Iwo of the
youngsters included in.
the ,documentary were
Theresa.Pickett, 9, of
Clinton, nd Karen Clark,
9., of Wingham.

film meant a great deal to
all the children, said Mr.
Rastner.
But it was the most
painful and difficult film
to do, By, the time we
started editing, some of
the children had died. It

seeing what these kids
were going through," he

Fighting Back is really,
a film made by a family
with cancer about other
families with cancer," he.

He noted that doctors
have made greater gains
in the battle against
leukemia than any other
form of cancer, with
about half of the victims
now living five years or
more, compared to
almost none a few years
ago.

Funeral services were
held on December 3 from
the Ball Funeral Home in
Clinton for , J. Hart
McNally. -
Mr. McNally, of 80
Osborne Street in Clinton
died in his residence on
December 1. He was 65
years old.
He was born on October
2, 1915 in Edmonton,
Alberta and attended
school in Springhill,
Manitoba. 'Mr. McNally
lived in Macklin,
Saskatchewan from 1915-
1918 and lived in
Neepawa, 'Manitoba from
1918-1943 ° when he,
married Jeanette J.
Tielemans.
The couple continued to
live in Neepawa and later
moved to Ontario where
they..•resided in .Chatham
before moving to Clinton.
Mr. McNally 'worked in
a janitorial service and
was an elder in the
Clinton congregation of
the Jehovah's Witnesses
and served a term as
minister. 1 - -
He is survived by his
wife and two daughters,
Natalie Louise and
Naomi --Sarah, both living
at home. Mr. McNally is
also survived by one
sister Mrs: Leslie
(Kathleen) King of
Timmins and Gordon of
Corunna
Walter Gardiner of-
ficiated at the December
3 funeral services and
interment will be held in
the spring at the Clinton
Cemetery.
The pallbearers were

Clinton, Dennis Chapman
of Seaforth, Jim Hopper
of Seaforth, Neil Hopper
of Seaforth and Frank
Postill of Clinton.
It took two years to
make the ,filth, as Mr
Kastner's mother, who

had to spend a lot of time
at the hospital with the
families, gaining their

A delicious pot luck
meal opened the
December meeting of the
Clintonian Club.
President Pearl
Cummings, opened the
meeting and r 11 call
asked each member to
read a Christmas verse.
After the reports were
givenn it was decided to
open the meetings again
in March, weather
permitting.

read by Mrs. Cummings,
Edna Adams and Irene
Glazier and a few rounds
of euchre and bingo were
played to end . the
evening.
Fred Mote passes
Fredrick Mote
Less than a week after
celebrating his 60th
wedding anniversary
with -i his wife Edna•,
Fredrick Mote died in the
couple's Albert Street
home on December 2.
Mr. Mote, 79, was born
in Caradoc Township on
December 3, 1900 to
George Mote, and the
former Orpha
Winegarden.
The farmer and former
employee with the New
York Central Rai.lw.ay_.
lived in Cardoc and
Mount Brydges before
marrying Edna Weldon

Radar Club met in the
Town Hall on Wednesday
evening,. December 3.
President George
Rumball conducted the
business session, ex-
tending a welcome to all
presents with a special
welcome to Mrs. Elva evening was, in charge of
Sanders who became a the social committee -
new member of the club. Leila and Rachel

program with a Christ-
mas theme was

two lovely piano solos,
then all joined in singing

Seven games of
progressive euchre were
played with ten tables in
play. High prize winners
were George Rumball
and Ida Livingstone and
low winners were Gladys
Hoggarth and Ed Johns.
A hearty lunch and social
chat concluded the
evening.

24 had celebrated their
60th wedding anniver y
with an open house

grandchildren

Mote.

Funeral Home in Clinton
on December 5. ' Inter-

Orwell.
Coupie celebrate 40th
A well-known area couple, Bob and Willa Taylor,
celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on
December 5 in the Hensall Community centre.
Over 400 people wished them well at the recep-
tion, including the couple's bridesmaid, Mrs. Isobel
(Robinson) MacKenzie of Perth, Ontario.
Mrs. Taylor is the the daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs, Oliver Jervis, while Mr. Taylor is the 'son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wiliam Taylor of Varna.
The couple were married December 7, 1940 at the
home of the bride's parents, Hillcrest Farms near
Summerhill, by the late Rev Burton.
The Taylors have three children, Barry Taylor of
RR 3, Clinton, -Mrs. Lloyd (Carol) Moore of Exeter,
and Don Taylor of RR 3, Clinton.
As well as the hundreds of well-wishers, the
couple received congratulations from -`MPP Jack
Riddell. •
Mr. Taylor will be well remembered for his nine
years as recreation supervisor at Huronview.

trees on every floor.

met on first north. We
appreciate the volunteers
that come in the first
Wednesday of each
month. Tea and short -

Bible Study on Thursday
afternoon, and Mass was
held in the Chapel on
Friday morning.

'auditorium on the 28th. So
you can see that it is a
busy and full month.
