Town Fathers meet.
Last Saturday evening•
at the Auburn Town Hall,
the newly elected town
fathers held their first
meeting. As early
records cannot be found,
it is believed it is the first
elected council in over 50
years! Previously
members had been
chosen by acclamation.
Warner Andrews
presided and the minutes
were approved as read by
the village clerk, Mrs.
Ross Dobie.
Correspondence and bilis
were read and discussed.
All members were
present - Warner
Andrews, Jim Schneider
and Gordon Powell. On
motion of Gordon Powell,
seconded by Jim
Schneider, Warner
Andrews was named
chairman, Mrs. Ross
Dobie was. re-elected

Constance Foresters

The Foresters held
their Christmas
.gathering on 'Sunday,
December 7th. -
Everyone gathered at ,3,
pm. at Nobles Bowling
Lanes in Seaforth where
family bowling was.
enjoyed. All six lanes
were filled.
Everyone returned to
the hall where a pot luck
supper was held with a
good, sized crowd 'at-
tendiiig. Santa Claus
arrived , and gave out
bags of . treats to the
children.
On Monday afternoon,
about eight members
from Court Constantine
sang Christmas carols
and hymns and spent a
social time with the -
residents of Kilbarchan
Nursing Home in
Seaforth.
Thursday evening is
lodge night for Court
Constantine and the .
election of officers will be
held.

New Year's dance planned
The Auburn and
District Lions Club met
last Wednesday evening
in the Community
Memorial Hall with
dinner catered by St.
Mark's Anglican Church
Women. The meeting was
chaired by the president,
f Lion Steve Campbell.
Seventeen members were
present.
The winner of the
dinner raffle' was Lion.
Bud Chamney. The
winner of the 50-50 draw
was Paul Radford of RR 3
Clinton. The amount was
$138. '
The minutes ;were read
by the secretary, Lion
Bob Worsell and accepted
on motion of Lion Walter
Marchi and' Lion Fred
Lawrence. The financial
statement, given by the
treasurer Lion Doug
Chamney, was accepted
on motion of Lion Jim
Schneider and Lion Ross
Dobie.
'Me float committee
reported that the Auburn
and District Lions Club
float was entered in the
Goderich Santa Claus
parade and would be also
in the Clinton Santa Claus
parade.
The fund-raising
committee reported that
tickets for the next 54-50
-draw .and the New Year
dance are available. A
turkey bingo will be held
December 12 in the
Auburn-'. Community
Memorial Hall. The
Children's Christmas
party will be held
December 17 in the hall.
Party begins at 7 p.m. All
children from Auburn
anurrounding area are
invited.
It was agreed that the
Club will be installing and
maintaining a pay
telephone inside the

Saturday, December 13
from 2-4 pm. Came and

Auburn,Silver Tops will
hold their first dinner on
January 14 at 12:15 p.m.

evening are the
progressive euchre
parties. If. you are 60 or
over - come and join this
group.
