EMMETT, Exeter. orahitatarry_ We have this week to reoord the death of Mr. Edward Snell, which sad event took placedtt his residence On Huron street Sunday morning. Mr. Snell was stricken ' down a few weeks ago with Typhoid fever and died from its effects. He was well lmown and highly respected throughout this neighborhood. He was e consistent member of the Methodist church, and died trusting iu the merits of a Crucified Sava - lour. He leaves a wife and one Child to mourn his loss. The Forsaken Merman 298-302 Returned Mr, John Renton, who has been away for five weeks on a business trip through Manitoba and tbe Northwest returned home on Saterday evening last. As Mr. Ranton's husiness was such that lie Dot only travelled on the mainline of the C. P. R. as far west as Calgary, but took in all the branch lines, and frornthe ample op- portunities', which he had says he had no idea ofthe extent ofthe eountiy. He never in his life before saw such fields ,of wheat and other grain, that in fact the crops of all kinds are splendid. He also states that the Northwest is undoubtedly the place for a person of limited means. Entertainment. The entertainment in Drew's hall last Thursday evg. under the auspices of the S. 0. E. Society, was successful in nearly every respect. The public schools in towns and cities opened for the fall term last Monday. The attendance in the Exeter school was large for the first day. The Southern Counties Fair, to be held in St. Thomas this year, promises to be far ahead of any previous year. Liberal premiums are offered.
