(Shelley McPhee) School enters parade The Goderich " Santa Claus Parade was the. highlight around the • Vanastra Public School last week as 20 children travelled to Goderich on Saturday morning and re resented this com- m nity on the float which dep'cted the two levels of a c ild's Christmas. ' If . you missed the Goderich Parade, you will still be able to see our float in the Clinton parade on Saturday. Children who par- ticipated . were Shelley Kyle, Jennifer Plumsteel, Shannon Mellor, Michelle Govier, Paul Handy, Joan McLachlan, Heather Brownridge, Trudy Laws, John McLachlan, Adam Dowell, Tammy Dowell, Jennifer Pollock, Kim Dixon, Lisa Gahwiler, Jean Bernard and Penny Robinson. We would like to thank all parents who ,took advantage of parent- teacher interviews last Men's spiel to be held A men's open bonspiel will be held at the Vanastra Curling Club this Saturday, December 6. The draws will be held at 9 and 11 a.m.. and supper will be included in the day's event. The spiel is being sponsored by Green and Parent from Go.derich, Swan's Welding, Clinton Chrysler Plymouth, Kerrigan Fuels and Clinton Auto Parts. And don't forget the Industrial Curling League play. They meet every Wednesday on the ice and for more in- formation on the league call Ken Rogerson at 482- 9100. week. On Friday, Con- stable Gosse from the Goderich Department of the OPP talked to our boys and girls about vandalism. He was very well received. Our Grade 5 and 6 is busy studying Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol". Hopefully they will be able to present it to a live audience at our Christmas concert, News fronithe nursery The Day Nursery would like to thank all the parents who donated and baked articles for our recent bazaar. They were greatly appreciated. A special thank -you " to Kevin's mom, Linda Meade for donating the gingerbread house, won by Patricia's mom, Jane Postrna. Chad Thiebeault celebrated his fourth birthday on Tuesday, December 2 and Friday, ,December 5 will be Debbie -Denomme's last day at the nursery. Debbie has been with us since December 1977. Last Thursday evening the Day Nursery staff took Debbie out for supper in Stratford and presented her with a silver tray. We will miss Debbie and we hope she will keep in touch.. Our Christmas party is on Thursday, December 11 at 7 p.m. when we hope all our children and parents will be able to attend. These days, we are all busy learning our Christmas songs for the big night. Swimming classes set All testing for swim- ming lessons has been completed and the new session of classes will be starting again in January '81. There will be regular recreational swims as well as a special Christmas freak swim in the afternoons from 3- • 4;30 p.m. A special youth activity program for 10 -15 -year- olds is ready to be started. There will be activities in the gym for, volleyball and basketball as well as pool activities and use of the fitness room.
