Kippen WI host dinner

had their turkey banquet
at Hensall United
Church, Nov. 28- when
they entertained their
families.
Following supper a
Huron County contest
was played and won by
Mona Alderdice. Jim
Chalmers had the lucky
plate; Grace Eyre was
the last lady to fill her.

wore the most jewellery;
Vern Alderdice had the
whitest shirt with tie;
Rena Caldwell had the
largest family present
and the member with the
oldest son or daughter
was Mary Broadfoot.
Agnbs Eyre was
wearing a hand made
article, Phyllis Parsons
had the most change in
her. purse and Stan
MacDonald was up the
earliest on. Friday
morning.
A fun time was con-
ducted by Grace
Drummond and
Margaret Hoggarth;
Marlene Bell's side won
the string contest. Ernie
Whitehouse won the
pillow case contest and
Grace Drummond and
Margaret Hoggarth
presented ,a Grocery
Shopping Skit.
Queensway news
The Queensway
Nursing Home staff and
residents wish to thank
the Bethel Reformed
Church Ladies who led in
the hymn sings en-,
tertaining at bingo_ and
passing out treats the
past month. It was very
much appreciated.
Albert Miazga won the
high bowling score for the
men with a score of 163.
Shirley Cassidy won the
ladies' high score with 135

finished, a woman came

speaker we had at our
last meeting. He spoke

speaker replied.

in Regina.
Dave Triebner un-
derwent surgery on his
hip last week.

McGregor are wintering
in Florida.

New church hour set

Beginning next Sunday,
the church service in
Varna will begin at 10
a.m., as at a meeting
following the service last

The November meeting
of Stanley council turned
out to be a brief clean-up
session in preparation to
the new council taking
over on Monday.
Ralph Stephenson is
being treated for
pneumonia in -Clinton
Hospital. His many
friends wish him a speedy
recovery.
Margaret Aldington of
Petrolia, who is being
married this month, was
the honored guest at a tea
in Varna on Saturday.
Shirley Hill read an
address of good wishes,
and on behalf of
a grant of $4 to each
member of the 4-H club
residing in the township
to help them complete
their projects.
Council gave their
approval to a bylaw
which authorized the
seeking of funds to the
tune of $365,000 from the
province for tile drainage
loans. In a related
matter, special drain
tileage rates totalling
$6,700 were approved.
